16. Interaction of Ni with SiGe for electrical contacts in CMOS technology
Abstract : This thesis investigates the reactive formation of Ni mono-gernanosilicide, NiSi1-uGeu, for contact metallization of future CMOS devices where Si1-xGex can be present in the gate, source and drain of a MOSFET. Although the investigation has been pursued with a strong focus on materials aspects, issues related to process integration in MOSFETs both on conventional bulk Si and ultra-thin body SOI have been taken into consideration. 17. Molecular Beam Epitaxy and Characterisation of GaN-compounds on GaAs(001) and Sapphire(0001)
Abstract : The hexagonal (wurtzite) and the cubic (zinc blende) group-III nitrides and their heterostructures have attracted much attention due to their potential for applications in high-power, high-frequency electronic and optoelectronic devices. The optical emission range of the GaN-based alloys cover the whole visible range from near infrared (IR) to ultraviolet (UV). READ MORE

18. Thermodynamic description of the Au-In-Ga ternary system based on the CALPHAD method
Abstract : There has recently been a considerable attention to the possible role of semiconductor nanowires for future device applications. To make this development feasible, precise control over the growth mechanism is required. READ MORE

19. Lipid Self-Assembly and Lipase Action
Abstract : In this thesis the action of the Thermomyces lanuginosa lipase (TLL) on "real" substrates, that is, lipid aggregates - vesicles, micelles, emulsions, gels and liquid crystals is discussed. Even for a pure triolein, the system becomes quite complex as the lipolytic process starts, both in terms of structure and composition, involving 5 additional components - diolein (DO), monoolein (MO), oleic acid (OA), sodium oleate (NaO) and glycerol . 20. Thermodynamic Study of Co-Cr and C-Co-Cr Systems
Abstract : An experimental investigation of the binary system Co-Cr and the ternary system C-Co-Cr has been carried out in the present thesis. The experimental strategy adopted for the binary system was to measure the thermodynamic activities of Cr, the molar heat capacity as function of time, the phase transformation temperatures with corresponding enthalpies, the Curie transition temperature as well as melting temperatures with corresponding enthalpies.
