  1. 1. Methodology for evaluation of hazards from solid waste and landfill-generated leachate

    Author : Britt-Marie Svensson; Lennart Mathiasson; Lennart Mårtensson; Ann-Sofi Rehnstam-Holm; Kenneth M. Persson; Högskolan Kristianstad; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Analytical protocol; organic pollutants; toxicity test; landfill leachate; leachate treatment; leaching test; waste acceptance criteria; Chemistry; Kemi; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; leaching test; waste acceptance criteria.;

    Abstract : A methodology based on an analytical protocol for evaluation of hazards from landfill leachate and solid waste is described. A dynamic analytical protocol, the LAQUA protocol, including measurements of inorganic and water-quality parameters, polar and non-polar organic marker compounds, and toxicity, was constructed. 3. 3. Unilateral Cleft Lip and Palate : Quality of Life and Nasal Form and Function among Adults

    Author : Maria Mani; Mats Holmström; Valdemar Skoog; Anna Andlin-Sobocki; Magnus Becker; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; unilateral cleft lip and palate; quality of life; SF-36; nasal function; nasal breathing; nasolabial appearance; cleft width; long-term results; Plastic surgery; Plastikkirurgi; Plastikkirurgi; Plastic Surgery;

    Abstract : Unilateral cleft lip and palate (UCLP) is a craniofacial malformation with functional and aesthetical impact on the face and the upper airways. The aims of the current thesis were to evaluate Quality of life (QoL) in adults treated for UCLP  (I), to objectively evaluate nasal form and function and to search for possible differences in residual nasal deformity and impairment of function between patients operated according to one-stage and two-stage palate closure (II) as well as to evaluate the relationship between professional and lay rating and patient satisfaction with nasolabial appearance (III) and to identify factors associated with lower levels of QoL and less satisfaction with nasal appearance among adults treated for UCLP (IV). 4. 4. Model-Based Protocol Testing in an Erlang Environment

    Author : Johan Blom; Bengt Jonsson; Sven-Olof Nyström; Bernhard Aichernig; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Testing; Erlang; Model-Based Testing; Symbolic Execution; Communication Protocols; Datavetenskap; Computer Science;

    Abstract : Testing is the dominant technique for quality assurance of software systems. It typically consumes considerable resources in development projects, and is often performed in an ad hoc manner. This thesis is concerned with model-based testing, which is an approach to make testing more systematic and more automated. READ MORE

  5. 5. Single limb exercises in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease : feasibility, methodology, effects and evidence

    Author : Andre Nyberg; Karin Wadell; Britta Lindström; Monika Fagevik Olsén; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease; elastic resistance; exercise capacity; health-related quality of life; randomized controlled design; single limb exercises; systematic review; study protocol;

    Abstract : Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. COPD is a slowly progressive, inflammatory disease in the airways and lungs, caused mainly by smoking. The inflammation leads to a narrowing of the small airways (airway obstruction) and a destruction of tissue in the lungs. READ MORE
