  1. 11. Effects of Testing and Enactment on Memory

    Author : Veit Kubik; Lars-Göran Nilsson; Fredrik Jönsson; Jonas Olofsson; Monika Knopf; Mihály Racsmány; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; testing effect; test-potentiated learning; enactment effect; cued recall; forgetting; episodic memory; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : Learning occurs not only when we encode information but also when we test our memory for this information at a later time. In three empirical studies, I investigated the individual and combined effects of interleaved testing (via repeated rounds of study and test practice) and encoding (via motor enactment) during learning on later cued-recall performance for action phrases. 2. 12. Ultrasonic testing of components produced with additive manufacturing : Towards improved detection and classification of defects

    Author : Mikael Sahl; Håkan Wirdelius; Erik Lindgren; Oskar Tofeldt; Madis Ratassepp; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Non-Destructive Testing NDT ; Super alloys; Microstructure; Ultrasonic Testing UT ; Productivity Enhancement; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik;

    Abstract : The focus in this work is on the use of ultrasonic testing as a method for inspecting components manufactured through additive manufacturing (AM) processes. The research is rooted in the need for effective non-destructive testingtechniques that can adapt to the unique challenges posed by AM-produced materials, including complex defect geometries and surface conditions. 3. 13. Pictures and a Thousand Words : Learning Psychology through Visual Illustrations and Testing

    Author : Ann-Sofie Jägerskog; Fredrik Jönsson; Staffan Selander; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; learning; multimedia learning; retrieval practice; testing effect; visual illustration; learning styles; visualiser; verbaliser; Subject Learning and Teaching; ämnesdidaktik;

    Abstract : For teachers and students to be able to make informed decisions about how to best improve learning, it is important to compare learning strategies that are known to be effective. Both multimedia learning, based on the notion that individuals learn better from words and pictures presented together than from words alone, and retrieval practice, based on the idea that retrieving knowledge from the memory is an active process that has a beneficial impact on learning, have been found robust learning strategies in earlier research. 4. 14. Valuation and Optimal Strategies in Markets Experiencing Shocks

    Author : Hannah Dyrssen; Erik Ekström; Damien Lamberton; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; American options; optimal stopping; game options; jump diffusion; jump to default; free-boundary problems; early exercise premium; integral equation; parabolic pde; convexity; sequential testing; fixed-point approach; Mathematics with specialization in Applied Mathematics; Matematik med inriktning mot tillämpad matematik;

    Abstract : This thesis treats a range of stochastic methods with various applications, most notably in finance. It is comprised of five articles, and a summary of the key concepts and results these are built on.The first two papers consider a jump-to-default model, which is a model where some quantity, e.g. READ MORE

  5. 15. Hydraulic Power Steering System Design in Road Vehicles : Analysis, Testing and Enhanced Functionality

    Author : Marcus Rösth; Jan-Ove Palmberg; Nick Vaughan; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydraulic Power Steering; Active Safety; Comfort function; Shuttering; Linear modelling; Fluid mechanics; Strömningsmekanik;

    Abstract : Demands for including more functions such as haptic guiding in power steering systems in road vehicles have increased with requirements on new active safety and comfort systems. Active safety systems, which have been proven to have a positive effect on overall vehicle safety, refer to systems that give the driver assistance in more and less critical situations to avoid accidents.
