  1. 6. Radiation and Scattering from Conformal Array Antennas

    Author : Björn Thors; KTH; []
    Keywords : conformal antennas; antenna arrays; antenna radiation patterns; radar cross sections; electromagnetic scattering; UTD; moment methods; high frequency method; hybrid method; mutual coupling;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with radiation and scattering fromconformal array antennas. A hybrid technique between the Methodof Moments (MoM) and different asymptotic methods is used forthe analysis, combining the accuracy of the MoM and theefficiency of the asymptotic methods. READ MORE

  2. 7. Analysis of Resistor-Loaded Bow-Tie Antennas for Ground Penetrating Radar Applications

    Author : Disala Uduwawala; KTH; []
    Keywords : Ground penetrating radar; Buried object detection; Simulation; Radar antennas; Radar signal processing; FDTD methods; Optimal design; Lossy media; Dispersive media; Clutter; Polarization;

    Abstract : Ground penetrating radar (GPR) systems are increasinglybeing used for the detection and location of buried objectswithin the upper regions of the earth's surface. Numericalsimulation of such systems plays an important role in thedevelopment of GPR hardware and signal processingtechniques. READ MORE

  3. 8. Designs and simulations of silicon-based microphotonic devices

    Author : Daoxin Dai; Sailing He; Siegfried Janz; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Electronics; waveguide; silicon-on-insulator SOI ; arrayed waveguide grating AWG ; Elektronik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The characteristics of a silicon-on-insulator (SOI) rib waveguide, including the bending loss of a multimode bent waveguide and the birefringence of a rib waveguide, are analyzed by using a finite-difference method (FDM). Based on a detailed analysis for a multimode bent waveguide, an appropriately designed multimode bent waveguide for reducing effectively the bending loss of the fundamental mode is realized. 4. 9. Construction of Adenovirus Vectors for Studies of Protein Function and RNA Interference

    Author : Saideh Berenjian; Göran Akusjärvi; Mikael Berg; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Microbiology; Adenovirus; viral vectors; VA RNAI II; RNAi; Tet-ON OFF; RNA splicing; Mikrobiologi; Microbiology; Mikrobiologi;

    Abstract : During an adenovirus infection the accumulation of alternatively spliced mRNAs is subjected to a tight temporal regulation. The IIIa protein is a structural protein expressed exclusively late after infection. READ MORE

  5. 10. The modified Iosipescu shear test for orthotropic materials

    Author : Niklas Melin; Jonas Neumeister; Gradin Per; KTH; []
    Keywords : composite; modified Iosipescu tet; shear test; strain field uniformity; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP;

    Abstract : AbstractThe Iosipescu shear test, also known as asymmetric four point bending of a V-notched beam,is frequently used for measuring in-plane shear properties of composites. The ASTM standard(ASTM D-5379-05) regulates how the test is to be performed. READ MORE
