1. Quality of Frozen Rainbow Trout. Effects of different freezing and thawing treatments
Abstract : The effects of different freezing, frozen storage and thawing treatments on the muscle tissue of farmed rainbow trout (Oncorhychus mykiss) were studied. Biochemical measurements were correlated to sensory estimated quality changes. The freezing process affects the proteins, the lipid fractions and the membrane structures in the fish muscle. READ MORE

2. Artificial Ground Freezingin Clayey Soils : Laboratory and Field Studies of Deformations During Thawing at the Bothnia Line
Abstract : Artificial ground freezing as a method to temporarily stabilize and create hydraulic sealing in urban as well as in rural areas has been used in a number of Swedish construction projects, particularly during the last decade. One problem with the freezing of soil and rock is that fine-grained clayey types of soils have showed a tendency to under certain circumstances, during the thawing process, create a pore water overpressure and to consolidate, despite a change in the external loading conditions. 3. Studies of the Effects of Industrial Processing on Fruit
Abstract : The industrial production of preserves includes several unit operations which all affects sensorial properties as well as the nutritional value of the final product. Thawing is a crucial unit operation, since then both chemical and physical changes take place. READ MORE

5. The Bentonite Barrier - Swelling Properties, Redox Chemistry and Mineral Evolution
Abstract : Bentonite is planned for use as a buffer material in high-level radioactive waste repositories, where safety assessment is performed for very long periods (100-1000 ka). This thesis focuses on the swelling of smectites in liquid water, and analysis of bentonite from field experiments at Äspö Hard Rock Laboratory, Sweden. READ MORE
