6. Soil behavior at freezing and thawing
READ MORE

7. Heat and water flows in freezing and thawing soils : numerical modelling, laboratory and field observations
Abstract : A laboratory study of infiltration rates into frozen and unfrozen fine sand, including temperature effects of both soil and infiltration water, is reported. The average infiltration rate varied from about 10.6 mm/min for unfrozen conditions, to about 1-2 mm/min for frozen conditions. READ MORE

8. Compaction and thaw deformation of frozen soil : permeability and structural effects due to freezing and thawing
Abstract : This thesis is the result of the two projects:"Deformations in winter compacted soils" and "Permeability changes in a fine-grained till due to freeze/thaw". The aim of the first project was to study whether it is possible to compact frozen soils, in road embankments etc. READ MORE

9. Use of chemical denitrification for nitrogen removal from landfill leachates
Abstract : Landfill leachate usually has a high concentration ofammonium nitrogen and heavy metals, but too low alkalinitycontent for full biological nitrification, as well as a too lowconcentration of biologically degradable organic carbon forbiological denitrification, and at the same time very variablecomposition (quantity and quality) with time. These factorsresult in serious problems for treating leachate with existingsystems. READ MORE

10. Investigation of the Freeze-Thawing Process for Pharmaceutical Formulations of a Model Protein
Abstract : Recent advances in recombinant DNA technology have resulted in a great number of proteins with a potential to enter pharmaceutical formulations. The most commonly used method for preparing protein pharmaceuticals is by freeze-drying. READ MORE
