  1. 16. Search for Supersymmetry and Large Extra Dimensions with the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Gabriele Bertoli; Christophe Clement; Martijn Mulders; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; CERN; large extra dimensions; supersymmetry; compressed; squark; neutralino; monojet; ADD; standard model; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : The Large Hadron Collider is the most powerful particle accelerator built to date. It is a proton-proton and heavy ion collider which in 2015 and 2016 operated at an unprecedented center of mass energy of √s = 13 TeV. The Tile Calorimeter is the ATLAS hadronic calorimeter covering the central region of the detector. READ MORE

  2. 17. Calibration of the ATLAS calorimeters and discovery potential for massive top quark resonances at the LHC

    Author : Elin Bergeås Kuutmann; Jörgen Sjölin; Kerstin Jon-And; Sten Hellman; Hans Bøggild; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; the ATLAS experiment; the Large Hadron Collider; calorimeter; calorimetry; hadronic calibration; top quark; top quark pair resonances; search for physics beyond the Standard Model; Elementary particle physics; Elementarpartikelfysik; Physics; Fysik; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : ATLAS is a multi-purpose detector which has recently started to take data at the LHC at CERN. This thesis describes the tests and calibrations of the central calorimeters of ATLAS and outlines a search for heavy top quark pair resonances. READ MORE

  3. 18. Search for Pair-Produced Supersymmetric Top Quark Partners with the ATLAS Experiment

    Author : Yiming Abulaiti; Sara Strandberg; Kerstin Jon-And; Isabell Melzer-Pellmann; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; ATLAS; supersymmetry; SUSY; Beyond Standard Model; stop; pMSSM; Large Hadron Collider; LHC; CERN; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : Searches for the supersymmetric partner of the top quark (stop) are motivated by natural supersymmetry, where the stop has to be light to cancel the large radiative corrections to the Higgs boson mass. This thesis presents three different searches for the stop at √s = 8 TeV and √s = 13 TeV using data from the ATLAS experiment at CERN’s Large Hadron Collider. READ MORE

  4. 19. Luminosity determination and searches for supersymmetric sleptons and gauginos at the ATLAS experiment

    Author : Anders Floderus; Partikel- och kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Electroweak; SUSY; Supersymmetry; Luminosity; LUCID; LHC; ATLAS; Slepton; Gaugino; Fysicumarkivet A:2014:Floderus;

    Abstract : This thesis documents my work in the luminosity and supersymmetry groups of the ATLAS experiment at the Large Hadron Collider. The theory of supersymmetry and the concept of luminosity are introduced. The ATLAS experiment is described with special focus on a luminosity monitor called LUCID. READ MORE

  5. 20. Measurements of luminosity and a search for dark matter in the ATLAS experiment

    Author : Patrawan Pasuwan; Sara Strandberg; Christophe Clement; Erin O'Sullivan; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; particle physics; ATLAS; luminosity; track counting; dark matter; simplified model; fysik; Physics;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents contributions to the luminosity measurement from the data recorded by the ATLAS detector in 2017 using a track-counting technique, as well as a search for dark matter in the ATLAS experiment using 139 fb-1 of √s = 13 TeV pp collision data delivered by the LHC from 2015 to 2018. Track-counting luminosity measurements in low-luminosity operations are performed to study the effect of low collision rates on luminosity determination. READ MORE
