  1. 1. Reflection seismic investigation in the Skellefte ore district : A basis for 3D/4D geological modeling

    Author : Mahdieh Dehghannejad; Christopher Juhlin; Ari Tryggvason; Charles Hurich; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Skellefte district; reflection seismic; mineral exploration; 3D 4D modeling; mineralization; faults and shear zones; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : The Skellefte ore district in northern Sweden is a Palaeoproterozoic volcanic arc and one of the most important ones hosting volcanogenic massive sulfide (VMS) deposits, producing mainly base metals and orogenic gold deposits. Due to high metal prices and increased difficulties in finding shallow deposits, the exploration for and exploitation of mineral resources is quickly being moved to greater depths. READ MORE

  2. 2. 3D Geophysical and Geological Modeling in the Skellefte District: Implications for Targeting Ore Deposits

    Author : Alireza Malehmir; Ari Tryggvason; Christopher Juhlin; Bernd Milkereit; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Geophysics; Seismic reflection; Hardrock; VHMS deposits; Potential field; 3D geologic model; Skellefte District; Geofysik;

    Abstract : With the advancements in acquisition and processing of seismic reflection data recorded over crystalline rocks, building three-dimensional geologic models becomes increasingly favorable. Because of little available petrophysical data, interpretations of seismic reflection data in hardrock terrains are often speculative. READ MORE

  3. 3. Seismics, 2D and 3D Inversion of Magnetotellurics : Jigsaw pieces in understanding the Skellefte Ore District

    Author : María de los Ángeles García Juanatey; Ari Tryggavson; Ute Weckmann; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Magnetotellurics; 2D inversion; 3D inversion; hard rock seismics; mineral exploration; integrated geophysics; 4D modeling; Geofysik med inriktning mot fasta jordens fysik; Geophysics with specialization in Solid Earth Physics;

    Abstract : The Skellefte District (SD) is one of the richest metallogenic mining areas in Sweden. The main deposits consist of volcanic-hosted massive sulphides (VHMS) rich in zinc, copper, lead, gold and silver, that have been explored and mined for more than a century. READ MORE

  4. 4. Geophysical investigation for 3D geological modelling and ore exploration in the Skellefte mining district

    Author : Saman Tavakoli; Thorkild Rasmussen; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Tillämpad geofysik; Applied Geophysics;

    Abstract : The Skellefte mining district, northern Sweden, is regarded as one of the country’s richest mineral districts. Most of the outcropping deposits in this district or those deposits which are located at shallow depths (≤ 300 m) are likely to have already been discovered, which motivated the Swedish mining companies to expand their explorations at greater depths (e. 5. 5. Textural and chemical characterization of sulphide minerals at the Rävliden North VMS deposit, Skellefte district, Sweden

    Author : Jonathan Rincon; Nils Jansson; Christina Wanhainen; Stefan Andersson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Ore Geology; Malmgeologi;

    Abstract : The discovery of new mineral deposits is essential to meet the increasing demand for metals in our society. The Skellefte mining district in Northern Sweden is one of the main producers of polymetallic ores of Cu, Zn, Pb,Ag, Au, and Te in Europe. READ MORE
