  1. 21. The greenhouse gas balance of drained forest landscapes in boreal Sweden

    Author : Cheuk Hei Marcus Tong; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; Sveriges lantbruksuniversitet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Forest drainage has been extensively used to facilitate forest growth in Fennoscandinavia. However, its impact on the ecosystem carbon (C) and greenhouse gas (GHG) balances is limited, particularly in the large area of hemiboreal and boreal Sweden. READ MORE

  2. 22. Drivers of Climate Change? Political and Economic Explanations of Greenhouse Gas Emissions

    Author : Ole Martin Laegreid; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Greenhouse gas; Climate change; Environmental Kuznets curve; Political institutions;

    Abstract : This PhD dissertation examines if social scientific theories can explain historical trajectories of greenhouse gas emissions. The manuscript includes an introductory chapter and four articles that consider annual emissions in countries across the world, during the time-period 1960-2014. READ MORE

  3. 23. Process integration in the steel industry : possibilities to analyse energy use and environmental impacts for an integrated steel mill

    Author : Mikael Larsson; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Engineering; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : There is a growing awareness of serious problems associated with the use of energy. These problems include local and global environmental degradation associated with energy use and depletion of resources. READ MORE

  4. 24. The global marine carbon system through time

    Author : Jenny Hieronymus; Jonas Nycander; Gösta Walin; Michael Follows; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; atmosfärvetenskap och oceanografi; Atmospheric Sciences and Oceanography;

    Abstract : Carbon dioxide is an important greenhouse gas and in order to understand its effect on the climate we need to identify its sources and sinks. This thesis focuses on different aspects of the marine carbon system and the exchange of carbon between the ocean and the atmosphere. READ MORE

  5. 25. Bio-coal for the sustainable industry : A scientific approach to optimizing production, storage, and usages

    Author : Aekjuthon Phounglamcheik; Kentaro Umeki; Markus Broström; Capucine Dupont; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energiteknik; Energy Engineering;

    Abstract : Bio-coal produced from biomass is a promising material to replace fossil coal in order to achieve net-zero greenhouse gas emission from the industrial sector. Bio-coal with quality comparable to that of fossil coal can be produced by high-temperature pyrolysis at ≥500 ºC, but the production efficiency is relatively low due to low bio-coal yield at high pyrolysis temperatures.
