  1. 1. The birth, life and death of firms in industrial clusters : The role of knowledge networks

    Author : Mark Bagley; Martin Andersson; Ron Boschma; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Three single-authored papers in this thesis will explore the role of knowledge and information in industrial clusters; and specifically, how knowledge plays a role inthe emergence and persistence of clusters. This thesis places a major emphasis on spinoff firms. READ MORE

  2. 2. Mechanical properties of semi-solid Al castings : Role of stirring

    Author : Qing Zhang; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Stefan Jonsson; Tomas Liljenfors; Arne K. Dahle; Johan Ahlström; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rheometal™ process; aluminum alloys; stirring; segregation; porosity; oxides; ductility; fatigue performance; melt quality;

    Abstract : Aluminum castings have been widely used in the automotive industry to reduce the vehicle's weight. However, the existence of casting defects significantly limits its application. The most common and detrimental defects in aluminum castings are porosity and oxides. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mechanical Properties of Semi-Solid Al Castings : Role of Stirring

    Author : Qing Zhang; Anders E.W. Jarfors; Stefan Jonsson; Jens Bergström; Jönköping University; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Rheometal™ process; aluminium alloys; stirring; segregation; porosity; oxides; ductility; fatigue performance;

    Abstract : Semi-solid metal (SSM) casting has been widely used in automotive industries to reduce the weight. In RheoMetalTM process which is one of the variations of SSM, the slurry fabrication can be finished within 30 second and can the slurry making process can be integrated into a high pressure die casting (HPDC) route without significant adjustments, making the process a promising alternative for industrial application. 4. 4. Comparative genomics of the genus Mycobacterium : Genome evolution, phylogeny and diversity

    Author : Phani Rama Krishna Behra; Leif Kirsebom; Bengt Persson; Mikael Rhen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Mycobacterial genomes; core gene phylogeny; tRNA and non-coding RNA; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylärbiologi;

    Abstract : The genus Mycobacterium includes more than 190 species, and many cause severe diseases such as tuberculosis and leprosy. According to the "World Health Organization", in year 2019 alone, 10 million people developed TB, and 1.4 million died. READ MORE

  5. 5. Jack of all trades, master of none : the multifaceted nature of H3K36 methylation

    Author : Henrik Lindehell; Jan Larsson; Anders Byström; Peter B. Becker; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; H3K36; histone methylation; dosage compensation; chromosome-specific gene regulation; transposable elements; PIWI piRNA biosynthesis; Set2; Ash1; NSD; Histone 3.3; post-translational modifications; histone modifications; epigenetics; proximity ligation assay; Drosophila; Genetics; genetik; molekylärbiologi; Molecular Biology; Biopharmaceutics; biofarmaci;

    Abstract : Post-translational modifications of histones enable differential transcriptional control of the genome between cell types and developmental stages, and in response to environmental factors. The methylation of Histone 3 Lysine 36 (H3K36) is one the most complex and well-studied histone modifications and is known to be involved in a wide range of molecular processes. READ MORE
