  1. 1. Experimental study on turbulent boundary-layer flows with wall transpiration

    Author : Marco Ferro; Jens Fransson; Bengt Fallenius; Joseph Klewicki; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Turbulent boundary layer; boundary-layer suction; boundary-layer blowing; wall-bounded turbulent flows; self-sustained turbulence; Engineering Mechanics; Teknisk mekanik;

    Abstract : Wall transpiration, in the form of wall-normal suction or blowing through a permeable wall, is a relatively simple and effective technique to control the behaviour of a boundary layer. For its potential applications for laminar-turbulent transition and separation delay (suction) or for turbulent drag reduction and thermal protection (blowing), wall transpiration has over the past decades been the topic of a significant amount of studies. 2. 2. Thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors

    Author : Dat Tran; Plamen Paskov; Vanya Darakchieva; Martin Kuball; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; III-nitrides; β-Ga2O3; Thermal conductivity; Thermal transport;

    Abstract : This PhD thesis presents experimental and theoretical studies of the thermal conductivity of wide and ultra-wide bandgap semiconductors including GaN, AlN, β-Ga2O3 binary compounds, and AlxGa1−xN, ScxAl1−xN, YxAl1−xN ternary alloys. Thermal conductivity measurements are conducted using the transient thermoreflectance (TTR) technique and the results are interpreted using analytical models based on the solution of the Boltzmann transport equation (BTE) within the relaxation time approximation (RTA). 3. 3. Turbulence modelling applied to the atmospheric boundary layer

    Author : Werner Lazeroms; Arne Johansson; Geert Brethouwer; Evgeni Fedorovich; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; turbulence; RANS models; explicit algebraic Reynolds-stress models; buoyancy; stable stratification; thermal convection; atmospheric boundary layer;

    Abstract : Turbulent flows affected by buoyancy lie at the basis of many applications, both within engineering and the atmospheric sciences. A prominent example of such an application is the atmospheric boundary layer, the lowest layer of the atmosphere, in which many physical processes are heavily influenced by both stably stratified and convective turbulent transport. 4. 4. Graphene Heat Spreaders for Electronics Thermal Management Applications

    Author : Yong Zhang; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; test platform; heat spreader.; transfer; Graphene; thermal management;

    Abstract : Graphene shows great potential for applications in electronics due to its outstanding physical properties such as extremely high electron mobility, high thermal conductivity, high Young’s modulus and very high surface-to-volume ratio. Among these attractive properties, the high intrinsic thermal conductivity is a critical advantage for the application of graphene in electronics to alleviate heat dissipation problems. READ MORE

  5. 5. A Study on the Thermal State of Steelmaking Ladles

    Author : Björn Glaser; Du Sichen; Petrus Christiaan Pistorius; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steelmaking ladle; refractory; thermal conductivity; transient hot wire method; slag; peheating;

    Abstract : In the present thesis a study on the thermal state of steelmaking ladles was undertaken. The transient hot wire method was verified for thermal conductivity measurements on metallurgical slags and applied to ladle slag measurements. Temperature measurements on ladles in an industrial environment were carried out. READ MORE
