11. Fabrication and Characterization of Photon Radiation Detectors
Abstract : This thesis involves a study the fabrication and characterization of photon radiation detectors. The focus has been to develop and improve the performance of optical measurement systems, but also to reduce their cost. The work is based on the study of two types of detectors, the position sensitive detector and the thermal detector. READ MORE

12. High Voltage DC-biased Oil Type Medium Frequency Transformer; A Green Solution for Series DC Wind Park Concept
Abstract : The electric energy generated by remote offshore wind parks is transported to the consumers using high voltage submarine cables. On the generation site, such transmissions are realized today by collecting the energy produced by several wind turbines in a bulky and expensive transformer placed on a dedicated platform. READ MORE

13. On the stability of proteins from hyperthermophiles : a structural and thermodynamic study
Abstract : In this study the structural and thermodynamic basis of the thermal stability of proteins has been studied using proteins from hyperthermophilic organisms as model systems. A new type of chaperonin (TF55) has been isolated from the hyperthermophilic archaeon Sulfolobus solfataricus consisting of two different subunits named TF55-alpha and TF55-beta. READ MORE

14. Evaluating building envelopes for energy efficient buildings : Energy- and moisture performance considering future climate change
Abstract : Buildings account for a signifi cant proportion of the energy use thatgenerates greenhouse gases and consequently drives the ongoing climatechange. As the population of the world increases, the need for buildingsincreases, while the energy use needs to decrease. READ MORE

15. Stresses in high performance concrete due to temperature and moisture variations at early ages
Abstract : This thesis presents results from laboratory tests and numerical analyses of stress states in concrete structures arising from volume changes due to temperature and shrinkage during hydration. The laboratory tests presented here deal with: the determination of heat transfer coefficients for cooling pipes measurements of self-desiccation and shrinkage under sealed conditions deformation measurements under temperature and moisture changes and measurements of stress development during hardening for a fully restrained structural member.
