16. Acoustic, Thermal and Non-thermal Dynamics in Condensed Matter Studied by Time-Resolved X-ray Diffraction
Abstract : The method of using short laser and X-ray pulses to investigate dynamics in materials (pump-probe) has been used for several decades. This thesis presents work that was carried out using these sources of light to reveal acoustic, thermal and non-thermal dynamics. READ MORE

17. On the Microstructure and the Thermal Conductivity in Compacted Graphite Iron
Abstract : Compacted graphite iron (CGI) is a cast iron material that has gained much attention due to its attractive material properties which are intermediate between those of grey and ductile cast iron. In the automotive industry compacted graphite iron has become an interesting alternative material to grey cast iron in components like cylinder blocks or cylinder heads. READ MORE

18. Thermal Modelling of the Caledonian Basin, Scandinavia and a Northern North Sea Profile
Abstract : The reason for the registered high paleotemperatures of the Scandinavian Alum Shale was investigated by heat flow modelling constrained by vitrinite-like reflectance. The behaviour of the lithosphere under a load was modelled and the paleotemperatures were explained by burial of the Alum Shale in a foreland basin, developing during the Caledonian orogeny. 19. Determination of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in district heating mains : Field measurements
Abstract : This thesis concerns the development of a measurement method for determination in the field of the thermal conductivity of the insulation in buried district heating mains. The thermal conductivity of the insulation is calculated from the measured value of the radial heat flow through the heating main, the measured temperature difference across the insulation, and the dimensions of the heating main. 20. Development of a non-destructive field testing method for thermal assessment of district heating pipes
Abstract : The thermal state of a district heating (DH) network governs the heat losses. It is a parameter considered if a change is to be made in the network. Heat losses are costly and economic aspects are important when planning for the maintenance or replacement of DH pipes. READ MORE
