1. Intrinsic tunneling spectroscopy of low-Tc cuprate superconductors : Pseudogap, fluctuations and electrical doping
Abstract : In this thesis, intrinsic tunneling and magnetic transport measurements of the cuprate superconductor Bi2+xSr2-yCuO6+δ (Bi-2201) are presented. The compound is characterized by a single-CuO2 plane, has a very low critical temperature Tc ~ 4K and a relatively low upper critical field Hc2 ~ 10T. READ MORE

2. Development of an integrated neutronic/thermal-hydraulic tool for estimating fluctuations in PWRs
Abstract : Monitoring and diagnostics of a reactor core at a given state is very important for detecting potential problems and anomalies at an early stage. Several methods exist for these purposes, but the majority of them require a disruption of the plant operation, e.g. by shut-down or by perturbation of the system. READ MORE

3. Thermal System Analysis : heat transfer in glass forming and fluid temperature-control systems
Abstract : Thermal system analyses are often required, and conducted, in engineering problems in almost all engineering disciplines. The methods employed vary a great deal and must be specially adapted for each situation. Basically, two different methods are used, namely distributed modelling and lumped parameter modelling. 4. Noise Aspects of some Si-based One Port Devices and Carbon Nanotubes
Abstract : The p-n junctions and Schottky diodes based on Si1-xGex and SiC are of great importance in modern electronic applications, such as microwave detectors and mixers. Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have appeared recently as an attractive new class of materials with a reduced dimensionality, and proposed as building blocks for nanoelectronic technology. READ MORE

5. Fluctuations and nonequilibrium thermodynamics in electronic nanosystems
Abstract : In the last decades thermodynamics has seen a resurgence because of the interesting phenomena that happen in small-scale systems. Indeed, in nanoscale devices, quantum effects and fluctuations cannot generally be neglected and influence both the transport and their thermodynamic performance. READ MORE
