1. Possibilities of using thermal mass in buildings to save energy, cut power consumption peaks and increase the thermal comfort
Abstract : The aim of this project was to generate knowledge to enable us to take advantage of heat storage in heavy building structures with regard to as energy savings, better thermal indoor climate, and reduced peak powers. This could include buildings that can function without energy input during cold periods, buildings that give a robust indoor climate without installed cooling, and buildings with good thermal comfort also in case of higher outdoor temperatures resulting from global warming. 2. Prediction of power and energy use in dwellings : Addressing apects of thermal mass and occupant behaviour
Abstract : Households are responsible for approximately 26 % of the annual energy use in the EU. Following the EU-directives regarding energy performance in buildings, international initiatives have been taken in Europe to help countries to define and include guidelines in their own building codes, for example, to establish the concept of zero energy buildings, ZEBs. 3. Efficiency factors for space heating system in buildings
Abstract : The thesis focuses on the efficiency of the space heating system. In particular, the efficiency factors measure the efficiency of thermal zone. The efficiency factors measures how the energy is used in a space heating. READ MORE

4. Footwear for cold environments : thermal properties, performance and testing
Abstract : Footwear with various insulation levels was evaluated. Some footwear was manufactured both with and without steel toe cap. Comparative studies between various methods (thermal foot model, human subjects, EN 344) were carried out. Data from subjects and foot model were used in evaluation of thermal properties of footwear. 5. On the thermal inertia and time constant of single-family houses
Abstract : Since the nineteen-seventies, electricity has become a common heating source in Swedish single-family houses. About one million smallhouses can use electricity for heating, about 600.000 have electricity as the only heating source. READ MORE
