11. Utilizing a tectonic framework to constrain the mineral system and remobilization in the Kiruna mining district, Sweden
Abstract : The Kiruna mining district, located in the northern Norrbotten ore province, Sweden, is a geologically and economically important area, being the type-locality for Kiruna iron oxide-apatite (IOA) deposits and also host to a variety of other deposits including syngenetic stratiform exhalative Cu-(Fe-Zn) (Viscaria, Eastern Pahtohavare), epigenetic stratabound Cu ± Au (Pahtohavare), and iron oxide-copper-gold (IOCG, Rakkurijärvi) deposits. However, the timing of IOA versus IOCG within the tectonic evolution is in question based on structural investigations showing Cu- and Fe-sulfides occur in late-orogenic structures. READ MORE

12. On Gas Turbine Conceptual Design
Abstract : The thesis begins with a review of the evolution of the industry's vision for the aero-engine design of the future. Appropriate research questions are set that can influence how this vision may further evolve in the years to come. READ MORE

13. Evaluation of Modular Thermally Driven Heat Pump Systems
Abstract : The building sector accounts for approximately 40% of primary energy use within the European Union, therefore reductions in the energy use intensity of this sector are critical in decreasing total energy usage. Given that the majority of energy used within the built environment is for space conditioning and domestic hot water preparation, prudence would suggest that decreasing primary energy used for these end purposes would have the biggest overall environmental impact. 14. Petermann Glacier Ice Shelf in a warming world : Insights from 3-D numerical modelling of ice shelf-ocean interactions at Petermann Fjord, Northwest Greenland
Abstract : The Greenland Ice Sheet (GrIS) is currently the largest contributor to global mean sea level rise, and contemporary mass loss rates are likely lower bounds for the rates to be observed in decades to come. At present, marine outlet glaciers along the northern GrIS margin, with an ice volume estimated at 400 cm mean global sea level rise equivalent, are still largely buttressed by ice shelves. READ MORE

15. Irreversible electroporation in the liver
Abstract : Introduction: Malignant tumours in the liver are divided into primary liver cancers and liver metastases. Among primary liver cancers, hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) accounts for 75-85% and is globally the fourth most common cause of cancer related death. Colorectal cancer (CRC) is the second most common cause of cancer related death. READ MORE
