  1. 21. A Systematic Approach to Integrated Building Performance Assessment and Visualisation

    Author : Samer Hassanie; Ivo Martinac; Holger Wallbaum; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal comfort; energy consumption; building certifications; occupancy; modeling; presence; pattern recognition; Demand controlled ventilation; Indoor thermal environment; Occupancy; Time response; Energy use; Civil and Architectural Engineering; Byggvetenskap;

    Abstract : The aim of this project was to develop a holistic approach to building-performance assessment without limiting it to energy use (usually expressed in kWh/m2/year), but rather include more parameters that represent the following aspects: Economic, environmental, and quality of service provided to the occupant/client. If it can be shown that buildings can be operated not only in an energy-efficient way, but also in a way that takes into consideration the needs of the occupants, a case could be built that a higher quality of indoor environment does not necessarily mean a higher economic impact. 2. 22. Modelling Life Cycle Cost for Indoor Climate Systems

    Author : Dennis Johansson; Institutionen för bygg- och miljöteknologi; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HVAC; life cycle cost; energy; Energy research; Energiforskning; Byggnadsteknik; Building construction; indoor climate system; ventilation; maintenance; LCC;

    Abstract : The indoor climate system, which serves a building with a proper indoor air quality and thermal comfort, has been predominantly designed based on the initial cost. A life cycle approach could improve both the economic and environmental performance since the energy use could decrease. READ MORE

  3. 23. Thermal Conductivity of Hygroscopic Foams Based on Cellulose Nanomaterials

    Author : Varvara Apostolopoulou-Kalkavoura; Lennart Bergström; Tatiana Budtova; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; thermal conductivity; cellulose nanomaterials; foams; hygroscopic; super-insulating; phonon scattering; moisture uptake; heat transport; Materials Chemistry; materialkemi;

    Abstract : Biobased super-insulating materials could mitigate climate change by minimizing the use of petroleum-based materials, creating artificial carbon sinks and minimizing the energy needed to maintain pleasant interior conditions. Cellulose nanomaterials (CNM) produced from abundantly available cellulose sources constitute versatile, highly anisotropic raw materials with tunable surface chemistry and high strength. READ MORE

  4. 24. Fire temperature development in enclosures : Some theoretical and experimental studies

    Author : Alexandra Byström; Björn Karlsson; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to problems connected to heat transfer and fire dynamics in enclosures. The thesis consists of a main part which summarizes and discusses the theory of heat transfer, conservation of energy and fire dynamics. Based on these theories, some cases of different fire scenarios have been analyzed. READ MORE

  5. 25. Additive manufacturing of Ni-based Superalloys- an analysis of parameter and strategy driven properties in Electron Beam Melting Process

    Author : Xiaoyu Zhao; Amir Rashid; Carolin Körner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Additive manufacturing; Electron beam melting; Super-alloys; process optimization; surface defects; subsurface defects; mechanical properties; thermal stresses; thermal deformation; Production Engineering; Industriell produktion;

    Abstract : Metal AM processes produce significantly rough surfaces as compared to wrought or machined components. Currently, the as-EBM surfaces are extremely rough and consequently, the as-built components could not be directly used as commercial products. The state-of-the-art research has focused primarily on deeply machined (DM) samples. READ MORE
