  1. 1. Thermodynamic description of the Fe-C-Cr-Mn-Ni-O system

    Author : Lina Kjellqvist; Malin Selleby; Bengt Hallstedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic assessment; Calphad; phase diagram; spinel; compound energy formalism; ionic two-sublattice liquid model; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The Fe-C-Cr-Mn-Ni-O system is of fundamental importance when describing the influence of oxygen on high alloyed steels. Both solid and liquid phases are of great interest: The solid phases regarding oxidation processes like the formation of oxide layers, inner oxidation, sintering processes and high temperature corrosion. 2. 2. Design, Synthesis and Thermodynamic Studies of Galectin Ligands

    Author : Maria Luisa Verteramo; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; galectin; conformational entropy; solvation; thermodynamic; interaction; molecular recognition; thiodigalactoside; diastereomer; structure-based design;

    Abstract : The signaling within and between cells in biology is governed by molecular recognition between natural or synthetic ligands and proteins. This thesis project aimed to investigate the thermodynamic properties of specific interaction between synthetic ligands and galectin proteins. READ MORE

  3. 3. Phase equilibria and thermodynamic properties of high-alloy tool steels : theoretical and experimental approach

    Author : Johan Bratberg; John Ågren; Bengt Hallstedt; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic calculations; tool steels; high-speed steels; CALPHAD; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The recent development of tool steels and high-speed steels has led to a significant increase in alloy additions, such as Co, Cr, Mo, N, V, and W. Knowledge about the phase relations in these multicomponent alloys, that is, the relative stability between different carbides or the solubility of different elements in the carbides and in the matrix phase, is essential for understanding the behaviour of these alloys in heat treatments. 4. 4. Studies of Steel/Slag Equilibria using Computational Thermodynamics

    Author : Lina Kjellqvist; Bo Sundman; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; steel slag equilibria; thermodynamic modelling; thermodynamic assessment; CALPHAD; phase diagram; Thermo-Calc; Other materials science; Övrig teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : The main focus in the present work concerns calculations on steel/slag equilibria. Thermodynamic software and databases are now powerful and accurate enough to give reliable results when applied to complex metallurgical processes. One example is the decarburization process of high alloyed steels. READ MORE

  5. 5. First step to a genomic CALPHAD database for cemented carbides : C-Co-Cr alloys

    Author : Zhou Li; Malin Selleby; Jana Pavlu; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CALPHAD; Einstein model; two-state model; compound energy formalism; thermodynamic description; C-Co-Cr; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : CALPHAD (CALculation of PHAse Diagrams) denotes the methodology used to assess thermodynamic data based on experiments as well as on first principles calculations. Essential for this method is the coupling of phase diagram and thermodynamic properties. READ MORE
