  1. 6. Efficient thermomechanical modelling of welding

    Author : Lars Wikander; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Datorstödd maskinkonstruktion; Computer Aided Design;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the pursuit of simple and efficient models for the prediction of welding residual deformation and stress, in particular ways to reduce the computational effort spent on the analysis. In the first part of the thesis, finite element models which reduce the number of degrees of freedom and thereby the execution time are presented. READ MORE

  2. 7. Numerical simulation of thermomechanical rolling contact using an arbitrary Lagrangian-Eulerian formulation

    Author : Andreas Draganis; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; rolling contact; finite element method; thermomechanical analysis; arbitrary Lagrangian--Eulerian;

    Abstract : In the endeavour to further the understanding of thermomechanical rolling contact, numerical simulations serve as an important complement to laboratory and full-scale testing. In the development of numerical simulation methods, the challenge is to enhance predictive capabilities while keeping computational efforts reasonable. READ MORE

  3. 8. A toolbox for improving the processability of composites with a high content of thermomechanical pulp

    Author : Seyedehsan Hosseini; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; interface.; thermomechanical pulp; magnesium stearate; mechanical properties; composite; molybdenum disulfide; AKD;

    Abstract : The use of oil-based products causes large volumes of non-biodegradable waste and contributes to climate changes. Focus has consequently shifted towards the use of polymers derived from wood. The processability of such polymers, however, presents a challenge but this can be overcome through the use of composite materials, i.e. READ MORE

  4. 9. On Thermomechanical Fatigue of Single-Crystal Superalloys

    Author : Mikael Segersäll; Johan Moverare; Jonathan Cormier; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Thanks to their excellent mechanical and chemical properties at temperatures up to 1000 °C, nickel-based superalloys are used in critical components in high-temperature applications such as gas turbines and aero engines. One of the most critical components in a gas turbine is the turbine blade, and to improve the creep and fatigue properties of this component, it is sometimes cast in single-crystal form rather than in the more conventional poly-crystalline form. 5. 10. Thermomechanical Processing of Nickel-Base Alloy 825

    Author : Munir Al-Saadi; Pär Jönsson; Christopher Hulme-Smith; Göran Engberg; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Alloy 825; Cast and wrought structures; Hot compression test; Microstructural evaluation; Modelling; Yield strength; Strengthening mechanisms; Teknisk materialvetenskap; Materials Science and Engineering;

    Abstract : Alloy 825 material was studied using a Gleeble-3800 thermosimulatorby performing single-hot compression experiments.Optical microscopy and electron backscatter diffraction wereutilized to characterize the microstructure. Dynamicrecrystallization is not considerable in the as-cast alloy anddislocation recovery is deemed to be dominant. READ MORE
