2. Modelling Ion Cyclotron Resonance Heating and Fast Wave Current Drive in Tokamaks
Abstract : Fast magnetosonic waves in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies have the potential to heat plasma and drive current in a thermonuclear fusion reactor. A code, SELFO-light, has been developed to study the physics of ion cyclotron resonantheating and current drive in thermonuclear fusion reactors. READ MORE

3. Non-linear dynamics of Alfvén eigenmodes excited by fast ions in tokamaks
Abstract : The tokamak is so far the most promising magnetic configuration for achieving a net production of fusion energy. The D-T fusion reactions result in 3.5 MeV alpha-particles, which may destabilize Alfvén eigenmodes through wave-particle interaction. READ MORE

4. Fast wave heating and current drive in tokamaks
Abstract : This thesis concerns heating and current drive in tokamak plasmas using the fast magnetosonic wave in the ion cyclotron range of frequencies. Fast wave heating is a versatile heating method for thermonuclear fusion plasmas and can provide both ion and electron heating and non-inductive current drive. READ MORE

5. Thermonuclear Instabilities and Plasma Edge Transport in Tokamaks
Abstract : High-energy ions generated by fusion reactions in a burning fusion plasma may give rise to different types of wave instabilities. The present thesis investigates two types of such instabilities which recently have been observed in fusion experiments: the Toroidal Alfvén Eigenmode (TAE) instability and the magnetoacoustic cyclotron instability (MCI) which is predicted to give rise to ion cyclotron emission (ICE).
