  1. 1. Biodegradable Thermoplastic Elastomers

    Author : Basse Asplund; Jöns Hilborn; Tim Bowden; Iskender Yilgör; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Chemistry; poly urethane ; poly urethane urea ; biomaterial; biodegradable; polymer; thermoplastic elastomer; haemocomatible; tissue engineering; biocompatible; Kemi;

    Abstract : A novel strategy for synthesising segmented poly(urethane urea) (PUU) without using a chain extender but nevertheless with the opportunity to vary the hard segment content has been developed. The strategy is based on amine formation from isocyanate upon reaction with water. READ MORE

  2. 2. Morphology and Properties of Polymer Blends -Polypropylene and a Thermoplastic Elastomer -Polypropylene/Polyamide (1/1) and a Modified Thermoplastic Elastomer

    Author : Bertil Ohlsson; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Reactive Processing; Compatibilization; Thermal Properties; Mechanical Properties; Morphology; SEBS; Polyamide; Polymer Blends; Polypropylene; Polymer technology; biopolymers; Polymerteknik;

    Abstract : The search for polymeric materials with new property profiles has stimulated a great interest into polymer blends and reactive processing. During recent years many new blends have reached the market. READ MORE

  3. 3. New biodegradable polymers from renewable resources

    Author : Yan Liu; KTH; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : High molecular weight poly(ester-carbonate)s have beenprepared by a two-step chain-extension reaction performed onoligomeric αω-bishydroxyl-terminatedpoly(1,3-propylene succinate).αω-Bishydroxyl-terminated copolymeric oligomers of1,3-propylene succinate/1,4-cyclohexanedimethylene succinatewere obtained by thermal polycondensation of1,3-propanediol/1,4-cyclohexanedimethanol/succinic acidmixtures having different composition, and subsequently chainextended using phosgene as coupling agent, which leads toaliphatic/alicyclic copoly(ester-carbonate)s. 4. 4. Heterogeneous Technologies for Microfluidic Systems

    Author : Gunjana Sharma; Klas Hjort; Sami Franssila; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : actuator; biosensor; fluidic circuit board; heterogeneous technology; ion track; microfluidic; pump; stainless steel; super-hydrophobic; valve; Viton; TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIKVETENSKAP; Teknisk fysik med inriktning mot mikrosystemteknik; Engineering Science with specialization in Microsystems Technology;

    Abstract : In this thesis, conventional and unconventional technologies have been studied and combined in order to make heterogeneous microfluidics with potential advantages, especially in biological applications. Many conventional materials, like silicon, glass, thermoplastic polymers, polyimide and polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) have been combined in building heterogeneous microfluidic devices or demonstrators. 5. 5. Synthesis, properties and applications of chalcogen-containing antioxidants

    Author : Jonas Malmström; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Chemistry; Kemi; Chemistry; Kemi; organisk kemi; Organic Chemistry;

    Abstract : In the first part, the preparation and properties of chalcogen-containing vitamin E analogues are described. The sulfur compound 3,3,4,6,7-pentamethyl-2,3-dihydrobenzo[b]thiophene-5-ol was prepared by two different routes using ionic and radical chemistry. Interesting rearrangements were observed in the two synthetic pathways. READ MORE
