  1. 11. Energy Harvesting for Wireless and Less-Wired Sensors in Gas Turbines

    Author : Elof Köhler; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; coupled harvester; piezoelectric harvester; piezoelectric; Energy harvester; thermoelectric harvester; harsh environment; thermoelectric; self-tuning;

    Abstract : Four types of energy harvesters aimed for gas turbine applications were developed during this thesis. The unique gas turbine environment shaped the design- and material choices. A semiconductor thermoelectric harvester was built for a location in the gas turbine with active cooling at 600°C, with 800°C wall temperature. READ MORE

  2. 12. Energy Harvesting and Energy Storage for Wireless and Less-Wired Sensors in Harsh Environments

    Author : Elof Köhler; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Piezoelectric; coupled harvester; Thermoelectric; harsh environment; piezoelectric harvester; Energy harvester; supercapacitor; Thermoelectric harvester;

    Abstract : Engineering requires sensors to control and understand the environment. This is particularly important in harsh environments. The drawbacks, especially in gas turbines is the complexity of installing a wired sensor and the weight of the wires. This makes wireless sensors attractive. READ MORE

  3. 13. A System-Level Framework for Energy and Performance Estimation in System-on-Chip Architectures

    Author : Sandro Penolazzi; Ahmed Hemani; Anshul Kumar; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Computer engineering; Datorteknik; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : Shifting the design entry point up to the system level is the most important countermeasure adopted to manage the increasing complexity of SoCs. The reason is that decisions taken at this level, early in the design cycle, have the greatest impact on the final design in terms of performance, energy efficiency and silicon area occupation. Abstract : Wireless sensor networks (WSNs) are employed in many applications, such as for monitoring bio-potential signals and environmental information. These applications require high-resolution (> 12-bit) analog-to-digital converters (ADCs) at low-sampling rates (several kS/s). READ MORE

  5. 15. Reconfigurable Analog to Digital Converters for Low Power Wireless Applications

    Author : E. Martin I. Gustafsson; Ana Rusu; Georges Gielen; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Integrated Circuits; Analog to Digital Converters; Wireless communication; Electronics Engineering; Electrical Engineering; Electronics; Elektronik;

    Abstract : The commercialization of Marconi’s radio transmission and reception, along with the development of integrated circuits in the 1960’s have facilitated many new consumer products for wireless communication, where the mobile phones or handsets are one. These handsets started out as a portable phone, mounted in cars, and have with time added additional services as Short Message Service, and have today become a media center with global positioning, and high-speed internet connection.
