21. Algorithms for Molecular Dynamics Simulations
Abstract : Methods for performing large-scale parallel Molecular Dynamics(MD) simulations are investigated. A perspective on the field of parallel MD simulations is given. Hardware and software aspects are characterized and the interplay between the two is briefly discussed. READ MORE

22. Partial methane oxidation from electronic structure calculations
Abstract : Investigating catalytic reactions with computational methods is a powerful approach to understand fundamental aspects of catalytic reactions and find ways to guide catalytic design. Partial methane oxidation is one example of a reaction with intriguing challenges, where a detailed atomistic approach may help to unravel the bottlenecks of this, as of yet, inefficient reaction. 23. Multilayer Structures for Biomaterial Applications : Biomacromolecule-based Coatings
Abstract : The cellular response to a biomaterial, such as a dental implant, is mainly governed by the surface properties, and can thus be altered by the introduction of a surface coating. In this thesis the buildup of a biomacromolecule-based coating formed by layerby-layer (LbL) deposition of the charged polypeptides poly(L-lysine) (PLL) and poly(L-glutamic acid) (PGA) has been studied. 24. Miniaturized localized surface plasmon resonance biosensors
Abstract : Abstract Reliable and sensitive biosensors are required for fast and accurate diagnostics. Localized surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) in noble-metal nanoparticles possess very high refractive index sensitivity close to the metal surface and therefore constitute an attractive biosensing platform. 25. Complex correlations between microstructure and magnetic behavior in hard nanomagnets : A study of the structural and magnetic properties of SrFe12O19 nanocrystallites
Abstract : Magnetic materials at the nanoscale are of huge scientific and technological interest, as theirmagnetic properties display remarkably different behavior compared to bulk-size. Among na-nostructured materials, M-type hexaferrite SrFe12O19 (SFO) nanoparticles (NPs) has becomeextremely appealing as promising candidate material for the renewal of permanent magnets ap-plications.
