36. Physico-Chemical Investigations of, and Characterization of Model Membranes for, Lipid-Peptide Interactions
Abstract : The main focus of this thesis is on the effects caused by α-helical peptides on liposome structure, the impact of cholesterol on the peptide-membrane interactions, and the effect of aggregate curvature on the peptide affinity. Results of the studies show that the membrane destabilizing effect of the cationic α-helical peptide melittin is modulated by cholesterol. READ MORE

37. Photophysics of Perovskite Nano- and Microcrystals
Abstract : The demand and consumption of energy is increasing dramatically all around the world. Broad adoption of fossil fuels has triggered an enormous threat to the environment. To ensure sustainability of our species and habitat, new solutions to fulfill the energy demand have to be found. READ MORE

38. Nanostructured ZnO electrodes for solar cell applications
Abstract : In this thesis the possibilities of using nanostructured dye-sensitized ZnO electrodes for solar energy conversion in photoelectrochemical solar cells are investigated. In order to characterize the photoelectrochemical properties of unsensitized ZnO films, measurements were performed using a short laser pulse (laser flash induced current transients) and under continuous illumination (steady-state). 39. Frequency combs on chip for interferometry applications
Abstract : Optical frequency combs have revolutionized the field of laser spectroscopy. A frequency comb is a type of laser that generates an array of equally spaced coherent laser lines. Indeed, the outstanding performance of frequency combs in terms of bandwidth and stability is readily attainable in bench-top systems. READ MORE

40. Light for a brighter morrow : paving the way for sustainable light-emitting devices
Abstract : We live in an artificially lit world, where light enhances our productivity and improves our quality of life. Today our appetite for light is stronger than ever, and emerging light-emitting technologies do not just replace the classical incandescent light bulb, they also open up for a new world of applications.
