11. Insane in the membrane: : Insertion of marginally hyrdophobic transmembrane helices and global analysis of membrane protein topology
Abstract : Proteins are responsible for carrying out most of the tasks in a living cell; transcription, translation, replication, movement, catalysis and communication to mention a few. A subset of proteins is the integral membrane proteins, IMPs, which play an important role in governing communication across membranes, whether it is the plasma membrane or an organelle membrane. 12. Biochemical conversion of biomass to biofuels : pretreatment–detoxification–hydrolysis–fermentation
Abstract : The use of lignocellulosic materials to replace fossil resources for the industrial production of fuels, chemicals, and materials is increasing. The carbohydrate composition of lignocellulose (i.e. cellulose and hemicellulose) is an abundant source of sugars. READ MORE

13. Actomyosin in biocomputation
Abstract : There exist complex mathematical problems that are important in real world applications such as weather prediction, molecular modelling, network route optimization and more. In general, such problems are solved using supercomputers with higher computing efficiency but this also consumes high energy along with high production and maintenance cost. READ MORE

14. Early steps in the biogenesis of the bc1 complex in yeast mitochondria : The role of the Cbp3-Cbp6 complex in cytochrome b synthesis and assembly
Abstract : The inner membrane of mitochondria harbors the complexes of the respiratory chain and the ATP synthase, which perform the key metabolic process oxidative phosphorylation. These complexes are composed of subunits from two different genetic origins: the majority of constituents is synthesized on cytosolic ribosomes and imported into mitochondria, but a handful of proteins, which represent core catalytic subunits, are encoded in the organellar DNA and translated on mitochondrial ribosomes. 15. Protein Misfolding in Human Diseases
Abstract : There are several diseases well known that are due to aberrant protein folding. These types of diseases can be divided into three main categories:Loss-of-function diseasesGain-of-toxic-function diseasesInfectious misfolding diseases Most loss-of-function diseases are caused by aberrant folding of important proteins.
