  1. 6. Orthodontically induced root resorption: a clinical and radiographic survey

    Author : Dimitrios Makedonas; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; orthodontics; root resorption; prediction; CBCT; Angle Class I; fixed appliance; six month; risk factors;

    Abstract : In 2005 the Swedish Council on Health Technology Assessment (SBU), in a systematic review, Malocclusions and Orthodontic Treatment in a Health Perspective, concluded that there were low or contradicted evidence for an association between orthodontic treatment and the risks for negative side effects. The aims of this study was to evaluate the perception of Greek and Swedish orthodontic practitioners view on orthodontically induced root resorption (OIRR), to investigate how root resorption is handled in a large orthodontic clinic and to prospectively study and correlate the prevalence and severity of root resorption seen after an initial treatment period and at the end of treatment, in a cohort of patients treated with fixed appliance. 2. 7. Three-dimensional guidance for Endovascular Aortic Repair

    Author : Giasemi Koutouzi; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; anatomy deformation; CBCT; EVAR; image fusion; image guidance; image registration;

    Abstract : Image fusion (IF) of preoperative computed tomography (CT) with intraoperative cone-beam CT (CBCT) is a potentially powerful tool for guidance during endovascular aortic repair (EVAR). It may improve intraoperative anatomic visualization and reduce doses of radiation and contrast medium. READ MORE

  3. 8. Tomographic methods in endovascular aortoiliac treatment

    Author : Per Törnqvist; Vaskulära sjukdomar - kliniska studier; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Endovascular treatment had developed rapidly and the procedures have increased in complexity. The demand of imaging excellence is imperative to perform these interventions. However both pre and postoperative investigations are performed by the use of advanced three-dimensional imaging, while the treatment itself relies on two-dimensional imaging. READ MORE

  4. 9. Reconstruction of the alveolar process in cleft patients

    Abstract : Background. The treatment of patients born with cleft lip and palate has been gradually modified over the years as the surgical procedures have developed and improved. Multidisciplinary team care has evolved and provided improved care with enhanced results. Clefts in the alveolus can be reconstructed by alveolar bone grafting or by periosteoplasty. READ MORE

  5. 10. Orofacial aspects of juvenile idiopathic arthritis in children

    Author : Malin Collin; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ;

    Abstract : Aims: This thesis, which investigates orofacial aspects and temporomandibular joint (TMJ) involvement in juvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA), aims to improve knowledge about the variables to include in a clinical examination, radiographic imaging techniques, and whether saliva can be used as a medium for disease monitoring. Material and methods: In a prospective longitudinal study comprising 59 children diagnosed with JIA, clinical and radiological data were collected. READ MORE
