  1. 16. Combining ab‐initio and machine learning techniques for theoretical simulations of hard nitrides at extreme conditions

    Author : Florian Bock; Igor Abrikosov; Ferenc Tasnadi; Magnus Odén; Martin Friák; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : In this thesis I focus on combining the high accuracy of first-principles calculations with modern machine learning methods to make large scale investigations of industrially relevant nitride systems reliable and computationally viable. I study the electronic, thermodynamic and mechanical properties of two families of compounds: Ti1−xAlxN alloys at the operational conditions of industrial cutting tools and ReNx systems at crushing pres-sures comparable to inner earth core conditions. 2. 17. Early Vision Optimization: Parametric Models, Parallelization and Curvature

    Author : Petter Strandmark; Matematik LTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Early vision is the process occurring before any semantic interpretation of an image takes place. Motion estimation, object segmentation and detection are all parts of early vision, but recognition is not. READ MORE

  3. 18. Solid-phase Proximity Ligation Assays : High-performance and multiplex protein analyses

    Author : Spyros Darmanis; Masood Kamali-Moghaddam; Ulf Landegren; Mathias Uhlen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; proximity ligation assay; multiplexed; biomarkers; solid-phase; microparticles; cancer; sequencing; Molecular biology; Molekylärbiologi; Biology with specialization in Molecular Biotechnology; Biologi med inriktning mot molekylär bioteknik;

    Abstract : Protein biomarkers circulating in blood hold the promise of improved diagnosis, prognosis and follow-up of treatment of disease via minimally invasive procedures. For the discovery and validation of such biomarkers, methods are needed that can facilitate parallel, highly specific and in-depth analysis of the blood proteome. READ MORE

  4. 19. Interactions with pain-related systems - Towards new electrical treatments for chronic pain

    Author : Matilde Forni; NanoLund: Centre for Nanoscience; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; High definition brain stimulation; Periaqueductal gray matter; Pain systems; Pain models;

    Abstract : Background. Persistent intolerable pain is still an unsolved issue with a huge socioeconomic impact. To develop appropriate treatments, it is crucial to understand the complex mechanisms underlying pain and how they change during sustained pain stimuli or during pathological conditions. READ MORE

  5. 20. Digital Phase Locked Loops for Radio Frequency Synthesis

    Author : Ahmed Mahmoud; Integrerade elektroniksystem; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; CMOS; PLL; DPLL; VCO; DCO; loop filter; DS modulator; phase noise; spurs; quantization noise; BBPD; TDC; DTC;

    Abstract : The demands for an ever higher data rate and a more varied functionality at minimal cost and power consumption have been the driving force behind most innovations in wireless communication systems. Intensive efforts have been made to develop Radio Frequency (RF) Integrated Circuits (ICs) and systems using low-cost Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor (CMOS) processes. READ MORE
