  1. 1. Constructing Soviet Cultural Policy : Cybernetics and Governance in Lithuania after World War II

    Author : Egle Rindzeviciute; Irina Sandomirskaja; Martin Kylhammar; Tony Benett; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Cultural policy; governance; cybernetics; Lithuania; the Soviet Union; governmentality; Kulturpolitik; styrning; cybernetik; Litauen; Sovjetunionen; governmentality; Cultural heritage and cultural production; Kulturarv och kulturproduktion;

    Abstract : Efter första världskriget var Sovjetunionen en av de första moderna stater som uttryckligen ägnade sig åt att övervaka och styra kulturen, vilket tog sig formen av en formaliserad och institutionaliserad statlig kulturpolitik. I denna övervakningsoch styrningsprocess försåg vetenskap och teknologi staten med konceptuella och materiella resurser vilka användes för att definiera såväl själva processen som föremålet för den. 2. 2. Perspectives on Demand Side Energy Efficiency

    Author : Olof Björkqvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; transaction cost; energy efficiency; energy conservation; viable system model; Markal; demand-side management; local energy planning; organisational cybernetics; reference energy system; decision support; case study;

    Abstract : This work treats recommendations based on energy systems engineering. The focus is on what can be learned by different methods about the roles that demand-side energy efficiency should play in the energy system. READ MORE

  3. 3. Program Matters : From Drawing to Code

    Author : Pablo Miranda Carranza; Katja Grillner; Daniel Koch; Charlie Gulström Hughes; Molly Wright Steenson; KTH; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; program; algorithm; code; drawing; geometry; notation; score; literacy; writing systems; diagram; formalism; sequence; cybernetics; materiality; research programme; archeological; archive; discourse analysis; practice-based; artefact; bricolage; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Abstract : Whether on paper, on site or mediating between both, means for reading and writing geometry have been central to architecture: the use of compasses and rulers, strings, pins, stakes or plumb-lines enabled the analysis and reproduction of congruent figures on different surfaces since antiquity, and from the renaissance onwards, the consistent planar representation of three-dimensional shapes by means of projective geometry. Tacitly through practice, or explicitly encoded in classical geometry, the operational syntaxes of drawing instruments, real or imaginary, have determined the geometric literacies regulating the production and instruction of architecture. 4. 4. Public Transportation in a Systems Perspective A Conceptual Model and an Analytical Framework for Design and Evaluation

    Author : Stig Franzén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; control theory; systems design; cybernetics; passenger transport; urban transport; systems perspective; conceptual model; systems engineering; human-machine system; public transportation;

    Abstract : Today urban areas are faced with problems like traffic congestion, air pollution, and limited accessibility and transport policy issues are focused on the "sustainable city of the future". For decision-makers the crucial question is how, with limited financial resources, a system for public transportation should be designed and developed to provide attractive travel and transport services. 5. 5. Container Logistics and its Management

    Author : Lars A. R. Hultén; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; demand management; management; fleet management; logistics; modelling; transport systems; decision support systems; container; cybernetics;

    Abstract : In this work research on container logistics and its management is presented. Contrary to the common approach of treating this as a mathematical problem and addressing it by operations research methods, this work regards the problem in a wider perspective. READ MORE
