  1. 1. Laser welding : energy redistribution and weld geometry

    Author : Conny Lampa; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Material Mechanics; Materialmekanik;

    Abstract : Over the past few years laser welding has developed into a process which has a wide range of application over a number of industries. Industrial growth in this area has been stimulated by improvements in production rates and quality but technologically the process is still not fully understood. READ MORE

  2. 2. Influence of multiple welding cycles on microstructure and corrosion resistance of a super duplex stainless steel

    Author : Vahid Hosseini; Leif Karlsson; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Super duplex stainless steel; autogenous TIG welding; multiple welding thermal cycles; sensitization; nitrogen loss; sigma phase; ferrite content; production technology; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : Super duplex stainless steel (SDSS) has found a wide use in demanding applications such as offshore, chemical and petrochemical industries thanks to its excellent combination of mechanical properties and corrosion resistance. Welding of SDSS, however, is associated with the risk of precipitation of secondary phases and formation of excessive amounts of ferrite in the weld metal and heat affected zone. READ MORE

  3. 3. Laser welding and cladding : the effects of defects on fatigue behaviour

    Author : Md. Minhaj Alam; Stewart Williams; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Manufacturing Systems Engineering; Produktionsutveckling;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on weld defects in laser processed materials (for laser welding, laser hybrid arc welding and laser cladding) and their effect on the fatigue life of components. Component properties were studied with particular emphasis on the macro and micro surface geometry, weld defects and clad defects. READ MORE

  4. 4. Welds in the lean duplex stainless steel LDX 2101 : effect of microstructure and weld oxides on corrosion properties

    Author : Elin M. Westin; John Ågren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Duplex stainless steel; welding; weld metal; HAZ; nitrogen; manganese; austenite formation; phase balance; precipitates; pitting resistance; heat input; solidification; element loss; evaporation; deposition; weld oxides; discoloration; mechanical properties; thermo-mechanical simulation; Geeble; GTA; laser; LOM; SEM; EDS; TEM; Leco; EPMA; ferroxyl test; XPS; post weld cleaning; pickling; Materials science; Teknisk materialvetenskap;

    Abstract : Duplex stainless steels are a very attractive alternative to austenitic grades due to their higher strength and good corrosion performance. The austenitic grades can often be welded autogenously, while the duplex grades normally require addition of filler metal. READ MORE

  5. 5. The Influence of Composition and Hot Processes on Heat Affected Zone and Weld Metal Behavior and Mechnacal Properties of Ti Grade 5 and Stainless Steel

    Author : Esa Kivineva; KTH; []
    Keywords : Stainless steel; Duplex stainless steel; Titanium Grade 5; Ti-6Al-4V; Microstructure; Mecjhanical properties; Welding; Welding simulation;

    Abstract : This thesis discusses on results of experiments carried outwith austenitic, duplex and super duplex stainless steels andTi-6Al-4V. In these it has been seen that the heat cycle duringwelding or weld simulation has a great effect on the propertiesof thematerials. READ MORE
