    Abstract : In the first essay, Persistence in Swedish Unemployment Rates, we study if there is no or weak tendency in unemployment rates to revert back to previous levels. Persistence is caused by: natural rate shocks, long unemployment cycles, and spill-over from cyclical to permanent unemployment. We find evidence of high persistence. READ MORE

  2. 2. Getting up when falling down : reducing fall risk factors after stroke through an exercise program

    Author : Eva Holmgren; Per Wester; Britta Lindström; Gunilla Gosman-Hedström; Birgitta Lindmark; Umeå universitet; []

  3. 3. Strategies for exercise assessment and training in patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease

    Author : Tania Janaudis-Ferreira; Karin Wadell; Margareta Emtner; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; COPD; exercise; assessment; muscle strength; arm function; Physiotherapy; Sjukgymnastik fysioterapi; lungmedicin; Lung Medicine;

    Abstract : Rationale: Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) is not only a common lung disease but is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Pulmonary rehabilitation (PR) helps optimize function and independence by increasing exercise capacity, reducing symptoms and improving health related quality of life (HRQL). READ MORE

  4. 4. Exercise physiology and cardiac function. Aspects on determinants of maximal oxygen uptake

    Author : Katarina Steding Ehrenborg; Lund Klinisk fysiologi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; respiratory indices; peak oxygen uptake; heart failure; cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; exercise physiology;

    Abstract : Although the athlete's heart has been of interest for over 100 years, further characterization of the athletes heart is needed in order to understand how training affects cardiac dimensions and function. Few studies have investigated the effects of training in female athletes and few have compared males and females. READ MORE

  5. 5. Spin-Spin and Spin-Orbit coupling studies of small species and magnetic system

    Author : Sathya S R R Perumal; Olav Vahtras; Ulf Wahlgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; spin-spin; spin-orbit; biradical; mcscf; Theoretical chemistry; Teoretisk kemi;

    Abstract : The spin of an electron often misleadingly interpreted as the classical rotationof a particle. The quantum spin distinguishes itself from classicalrotation by possessing quantized states and can be detected by its magneticmoment. The properties of spin and its collective behavior with otherfundamental properties are fascinating in basic sciences. READ MORE
