  1. 1. By foot at ease : environmental affordances for wellbeing in walking

    Author : Thomas Höjemo; Beatriz Fedrizzi; Anna-Johanna Klasander; Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Walking has been shown to provide benefits for our health and also for the environment. Research has also shown that if the built environment is adapted for pedestrians, people walk more. However, there is a lack of qualitative research in architecture and urban design on walking at the micro (streetscape) scale. READ MORE

  2. 2. Urbanization as Socionatures' Reproduction: from Territories of Extraction

    Author : Berta Flaquer; Kristina L. Nilsson; Jennie Sjöholm; Andrea Luciani; Peter Sköld; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Arkitektur; Architecture;

    Abstract : Through an engagement with the strand of critical urban theory, this dissertation brings the reworkings of Henri Lefebvre’s notion of ‘planetary urbanisation’ into a new synthesis with further inputs from urban political ecology and feminism—towards developing an ecofeminist lens to urbanization. Guided by the hypothesis “urbanization has been historically sustained through the patriarchal domination of women and nature’s reproduction,” the thesis seeks to critically explore how urbanization processes have historically and multiscalarly recurrently transformed the spatial configurations of reproduction from territories of extraction. 4. 4. Daylight Influence on Colour Design : Empirical Study on Perceived Colour and Colour Experience Indoors

    Author : Maud Hårleman; Jadwiga Krupinska; José Luis Caivano; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; architecture; interior colouring; spatial character; natural daylight; verbal description; colour reference box; Architecture; Arkitektur;

    Abstract : It is known that one and the same interior colouring will appear different in rooms with windows facing north or facing south, but it is not known how natural daylight from these two compass points affects perceived colour and the ways in which colour is experienced. The objective is to describe the perceived colours to be expected in rooms with sunlight and diffused light, and thus develop a tool for colour design. READ MORE

  5. 5. Towards Better Urban Spaces in Harmony with Microclimate: Urban design and planning regulations in hot dry Damascus, Syria
