  1. 1. Imidazole containing polymers complexed with Cu2+ and Zn2+

    Author : Markus Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; vibrational spectroscopy; far-FTIR; EPR; cross-linking; DSC; Coordinating polymer; imidazole; mid-FTIR; metal ion;

    Abstract : An enormous problem for the shipping industry is fouling of marine organisms such as algae andbarnacles on the boat hull. The negative consequences for the society are both economical as well asenvironmental. To prevent fouling in general, biocides are typically incorporated directly into the paint. READ MORE

  2. 2. Discovery of Small Peptides and Peptidomimetics Targeting the Substance P 1-7 Binding Site : Focus on Design, Synthesis, Structure-Activity Relationships and Drug-Like Properties

    Author : Rebecca Fransson; Anja Sandström; John S Svendsen; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; substance P 1-7; peptidomimetics; structure-activity relationship; drug-like properties; phenylalanine; imidazole; MAP aryl amides; carbonylation; Pharmaceutical chemistry; Farmaceutisk kemi; Medicinal Chemistry; Läkemedelskemi;

    Abstract : Biologically active peptides are important for many physiological functions in the human body and therefore serve as interesting starting points in drug discovery processes. In this work the neuropeptide substance P 1–7 (SP1–7, H-Arg-Pro-Lys-Pro-Gln-Gln-Phe-OH), which has been demonstrated to reduce neuropathic pain and attenuate opioid withdrawal symptoms in animal models, has been addressed in a medicinal chemistry program with the overall aim of transforming this bioactive peptide into more drug-like compounds. 3. 3. Hydrogen Bonded Phenols as Models for Redox-Active Tyrosines in Enzymes

    Author : Josefin Utas; Björn Åkermark; Helena Grennberg; Stockholms universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; electron transfer; photosystem II; radicals; imidazole; hydrogen bonding; Organic chemistry; Organisk kemi;

    Abstract : This thesis deals with the impact of hydrogen bonding on the properties of phenols. The possibility for tyrosine to form hydrogen bonds to other amino acids has been found to be important for its function as an electron transfer mediator in a number of important redox enzymes.
