  1. 21. Ethanol from lignocellulose : physiological effects of inhibitors and fermentation strategies

    Author : Mohammad J Taherzadeh; Chalmers Univ of Technology; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Acetic acid; Agents; Cellulose; Enzyme inhibition; Feedback control; Fermentation; Hydrolysis; Metabolites; pH; Physiology; Wood; Yeast; Dilute acid hydrolyzate; Inhibitors; Lignocellulose; Physiological effects; Saccharomyces cerevisiae; Ethanol;

    Abstract : Fermentative ethanol production from dilute-acid hydrolyzates of wood using the yeast Saccharomyces cerevisiae was investigated. Of known inhibitors in hydrolyzates, acetic acid, furfural and hydroxymethyl furfural (HMF) were found in the highest concentrations (up to about 10 g/l). READ MORE

  2. 22. Hybrid Routing in Next Generation IP Networks : QoS Routing Mechanisms and Network Control Strategies

    Author : Antoine B Bagula; Björn Pehrson; Bukhard Stiller; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Teletraffic systems; Teletrafiksystem;

    Abstract : Communication networks have evolved from circuit-switched and hop-by-hop routed systems into hybrid data/optical networks using the Internet as a common backbone carrying narrow- and broad-band traffic offered by a multitude of access networks. This data/optical backbone is built around a multi-technology/multi-protocol routing architecture which runs the IP protocols in a collapsed IP stack where ATM and SONET/SDH have been replaced by the suite of Generalized Multiprotocol Label Switching (GMPLS) protocols. 3. 23. Control Strategies for Machining with Industrial Robots

    Author : Olof Sörnmo; Institutionen för reglerteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Industrial Robots; Machining; Control;

    Abstract : This thesis presents methods for improving machining with industrial robots using control, with focus on increasing positioning accuracy and controlling feed rate. The strong process forces arising during high-speed machining operations, combined with the limited stiffness of industrial robots, have hampered the usage of industrial robots in high-end machining tasks. 4. 24. Heterogeneity and biopsy strategies in prostate cancer

    Author : Lars Egevad; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Genetics; Prostate cancer; core biopsy; tumor. volume; computer simulation; DNAploidy; tumor heterogeneity; Genetik; Clinical genetics; Klinisk genetik; Pathology; patologi;

    Abstract : For the diagnosis of prostate cancer, there is a need to develop biopsy strategies, that give representative information both for detection of cancer and for assessment of prognostic indicators.In 80 men, transrectal core biopsies from 10 standardized positions were taken before radical prostatectomy. 5. 25. HCCI Combustion - Engine Operation and Emission Characteristics

    Author : Magnus Christensen; Förbränningsmotorer; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Motors and propulsion systems; efficiency; emissions; combustion; HCCI; engine;

    Abstract : The potential and limitations of the Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition (HCCI) engine concept has been experimentally investigated. The operation range, in terms of usable air/fuel ratio and engine load, and the emission characteristics have been studied. An 1. READ MORE
