  1. 1. Back pain post partum : clinical and experimental studies

    Author : Lena Nilsson-Wikmar; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Activity limitations; back pain; kinematics; lifting; mobility; pain; pain provocation test; pelvic girdle pain; physiotherapy; pregnancy; post partum; rehabilitation; women;

    Abstract : Background: Half or more of pregnant women experience back pain at some time during pregnancy. 2. 2. Transcatheter Arterial Embolization in the Management of Life Threatening Bleeding Applied in Upper Gastrointestinal and Post Partum Bleedings

    Author : Lars-Gunnar Eriksson; Rickard Nyman; Sven Gustavsson; Krasnodar Ivancev; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Radiology; Post partum hemorrhage; Upper peptic ulcer bleeding; Transcatheter arterial embolization; Endoscopic treatment; Endoscopic marking; Metallic clip; Radiologisk forskning;

    Abstract : Transcatheter Arterial Embolization (TAE) is a method in which a catheter is inserted into an artery under fluoroscopy guidance. By using material that creates a thrombus, inserted through the catheter, the artery can be occluded and the bleeding stopped. READ MORE

  3. 3. Hormones and fluid balance during pregnancy, labor and post partum

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to determine any association between plasma oxytocin and vasopressin concentrations and renal water and sodium excretion during normal pregnancy. In addition to investigate changes in concentrations of estradiol, progesterone, oxytocin, cortisol, and glucose in the blood before and in the nearest hours after delivery and if treatment with oxytocin affected these concentrations and the fluid balance during the different stages of labour. 4. 4. On ionising radiation and breast cancer risk

    Author : Anders Mattsson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : ionising radiation; breast cancer induction; cancer induction; risk models; risk modification; pooled analysis; mammmographic screening; gained lost years of life;

    Abstract : Background: It is well known that exposure to ionising radiation increases the risk for breast cancer occurrence. However, better understanding of breast cancer risks in terms of dose-response relationships formulated according to radiobiological target theories, age-at-exposure patterns and temporal dependence are important for the understanding of the underlying biological mechanism of radiation carcinogenesis as well as for the concern about possible risks associated with the very low doses received from routine mammographic screening.
