  1. 1. Essays on Systemic Risk in European Banking

    Author : Hassan Sabzevari; Nationalekonomiska institutionen; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Systemic Risk; CoVaR; GIIPS; Quantile Regression; DCC; CDS;

    Abstract : This thesis makes a contribution to systemic risk literature in the European banking system. The intimate interdependence between the European banking industries and the fragile GIIPS debt market has jeopardized the banking sector in Europe. READ MORE

  2. 2. Application of Mathematical Programming to Short-Term Operation Planning of Hydrothermal Power System

    Author : Hooshang Habibollahzadeh; Janis Bubenko; Denis Sjelvgren; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Hydro power; Optimization; Short-Term Operation Planning; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : The thesis contains the results of a reseach project on application of mathematical programming methods to short-term operation planning of large hydrothermal power systems. The project was aimed at devoeloping efficient solution techniques that are practially applicable to large systems. The problem is modeled as a large mixed integer program.. READ MORE

  3. 3. Transport systems meeting long-term climate targets : A backcasting approach

    Author : Jonas Åkerman; Mattias Höjer; Glenn Lyons; KTH; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Other social sciences; Övrig samhällsvetenskap;

    Abstract : Future transport systems consistent with long-term climate targets are examined in this thesis, using a systems perspective covering the entire transport system. Aviation is given particular attention, as expansion of this mode is difficult to reconcile with climate targets. READ MORE

  4. 4. Charged current quasi-elastic muon neutrino interactions in the Baby MIND detector

    Author : Sven-Patrik Hallsjö; Soler Paul; UK University of Glasgow College of Science and Engineering School of Physics and Astronomy; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The T2K long-baseline neutrino experiment in Japan is designed to study neutrino oscillations, to determine the mixing angles and mass-squared difference of the neutrino mass eigenstates and, potentially, to discover CP violation in neutrinos by comparing neutrino to antineutrino oscillations. In the near detector complex 280 m downstream of the produc- tion target at the Japanese Particle Accelerator Research Centre (J-PARC), the WAGASCI experiment will measure the ratio of cross sections from neutrinos interacting with a water and scintillator targets, in order to constrain neutrino cross sections essential for the T2K neutrino oscillation measurements. 5. 5. Land-use competition and agricultural greenhouse gas emissions in a climate change mitigation perspective

    Author : David Bryngelsson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Bioenergy; Diets; Livestock; Integrated assessment model; Land use competition; GHG emissions; Partial equilibrium model; Mitigation; Food consumption; Climate change;

    Abstract : Productive land for food production, bioenergy, or preservation of nature is a limited resource. Climate change mitigation puts additional pressure on land via higher demand for bioenergy to replace fossil fuels and via restrictions on deforestation—two processes that limit the availability of land for food produc- tion, and may thus also raise food prices.
