11. Nuclear Dynamics in X-ray Absorption and Raman Scattering
Abstract : This thesis presents theoretical studies of several x-ray spectroscopies - x-ray absorption, x-ray photoelectron emission, radiative and non-radiative resonant Raman scattering spectroscopy. The main focus point is investigating the influence of nuclear dynamics on these spectra for a variety of small molecules - naphthalene, biphenyl, ethylene, the water dimer, HCl, CO. READ MORE

12. Waves and Trajectories in Quantum Dots
Abstract : This thesis deals with electron transport in low-dimensional semiconductor nanostructures, and in particular, systems with quasi zero-dimensional properties, called quantum dots. These systems are so small that the electron wavelength is comparable to the size of systems, which means that the wave nature of the electrons is of fundamental importance. READ MORE

13. Collective Electron Dynamics in Mesoscopic Systems
Abstract : This work is devoted to a theoretical investigation of collective electron dynamics in low dimensional materials and mesoscopic structures. A common feature of these studies is the focus on the properties of the low energy dynamics of conduction electrons. One class of studied materials is the high-Tc superconductor Nd2CuO4 and related compounds. READ MORE

14. Ab initio simulations of vibrational and electronic structure evaluated against K-edge resonant inelastic X-ray scattering
Abstract : The work of this thesis is focused on investigation of electronic and molecular structure and dynamics a molecular species in solutions and minerals in relation to resonant inelastic X-ray scattering (RIXS). The studies have been carried out by means of quantum chemistry calculations using density functional theory (DFT) and multi-configurational methods and quantum dynamics simulations using wave packet dynamics and ab initio molecular dynamics. 15. Atom-Diatom Scattering. From Potential Energy Surfaces to Rate Constants
Abstract : This thesis is about the theoretical study of collisions between atoms and diatomic molecules. It might seem like a trivial problem, but in reality it is a highly complex process. Despite, or because of, their apparent simplicity, these processes are of importance for a broad area of science. READ MORE
