  1. 1. High temperature corrosion in a biomass-fired power boiler : Reducing furnace wall corrosion in a waste wood-fired power plant with advanced steam data

    Author : Yousef Alipour; Pamela Henderson; Peter Szalalos; Christofer Leygraf; Jan Froitzheim; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; High temperature corrosion; Waterwalls; Power plant corrosion; NOx reducing enviroments; Biomass; Waste wood; Thermodynamic calculation modelling; corrosion-resistance alloy; Furnace wall corrosion; Högtemperaturekorrosion; Eldstadsväggar; kraftverks korrosion; låg Nox mijöer; biomassa; returträ; Termodynamisk modellering; korrosionsbeständighet legering; eldstadskorrosion;

    Abstract : The use of waste (or recycled) wood as a fuel in heat and power stations is becoming more widespread in Sweden (and Europe), because it is CO2 neutral with a lower cost than forest fuel. However, it is a heterogeneous fuel with a high amount of chlorine, alkali and heavy metals which causes more corrosion than fossil fuels or forest fuel. READ MORE

  2. 2. Techno-economic analysis of combined cycle power plants integrated with chemical looping reforming and CO2 capture

    Author : Shareq Mohd Nazir; Olav Bolland; Shahriar Amini; Norway Trondheim Norwegian University of Science and Technology Department of Energy and Process Engineering; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy Technology; Energiteknik;

    Abstract : The current thesis is a part of the EU FP7 Project titled NanoSim. It focuses on techno-economic analysis of combined cycle power plants with integrated pre-combustion CO2 capture and reforming of Natural Gas (NG). READ MORE

  3. 3. The Analysis of Thermal Power Stations and their Interaction with the Power System using Simulator Test Methods

    Author : Jan Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; thermal power station; network simulator; frequency control; island operation; turbine model;

    Abstract : This thesis describes a new method of testing power stations with regard to their frequency control behaviour and analyses results obtained using this new method. The test concept is based on that the power station unit to be tested remains synchronized onto its normal strong network, whereas the frequency control behaviour is set up to be that of the conditions if the unit was working on a much smaller network, using a computer based simulator system and feeding simulated control signals to the input of the units frequency control system. 4. 4. Large-Scale Production and Use of Biomethane

    Author : Alberto Alamia; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; dual fuel; Biomass gasification; SNG; power-to-gas; well-to-wheel; biomethane; biorefinery; GoBiGas; DFB gasifier; process simulation;

    Abstract : Societal ambitions to create an economy based on renewable resources, require the development of technologies transforming these resources into energy-carrying products and biomaterials. Dual fluidized bed (DFB) gasification represents a key technology for achieving sustainability targets, as it is a scalable and highly efficient route for the conversion of biomass. READ MORE

  5. 5. Evaporative Cycles - in Theori and in Practise

    Author : Per M Rosén; Kraftverksteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Motors and propulsion systems; Trigeneration; Combustion Engines; Gas Turbines; CHAT; HAM; HAT; Evaporative Cycles; EvGT; Motorer; framdrivningssystem; Thermal engineering; applied thermodynamics; Termisk teknik; termodynamik;

    Abstract : The thesis is based on applied research, rather closed to industrial development. The developed simulation model, for pre-design of evaporative gas turbine cycles, has been validated in a 600 kW pilot plant and in rebuilt turbo-charged diesel engines. READ MORE
