  1. 21. Effect of austenitising temperature and cooling rate on microstructures of hot-work tool steels

    Author : María Teresa Coll Ferrari; Leif Karlsson; Hans-Olof Andrén; Högskolan Väst; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Tool steel; Heat Treatment; Austenitising Temperature; Large Tools; Tempering Carbides; Bainitic Microstructures; Production Technology; Produktionsteknik; Manufacturing and materials engineering; Produktions- och materialteknik;

    Abstract : The average size of hot-work tools has gradually increased over the past years.This affects the effective temperature cycle tools experience during hardening,as large dimensions prevent uniform and rapid cooling, and thereby the resulting microstructures and properties. READ MORE

  2. 22. Resistance of cold-formed high strength steel sections : Effect of cold-formed angle

    Author : Anh Tuan Tran; Lars Bernspång; Ove Lagerqvist; Torsten Höglund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Stålbyggnad; Steel Structures;

    Abstract : Cold-formed steel members are increasingly used in industrial and civil construction. Their use allows optimised member cross sections and shapes, thereby reducing the amount of steel used as well as the weight of the structures and, consequently, reducing harmful effects on the environment. 3. 23. Thermal boundary conditions based on field modeling of fires : Heat transfer calculations in CFD and FE models with special regards to fire exposure represented with adiabatic surface temperatures

    Author : Joakim Sandström; Stephen Welch; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : Combining computer fluid dynamic, CFD, models with finite element, FE, models to calculate temperature in fire exposed structures can reduce design temperatures in structures while still obtaining the level of structural fire safety stipulated by society. A better understanding of heat transfer and the concept of adiabatic surface temperatures, AST, the transition of data between models can be simplified and more accurate temperature predictions can be made. 4. 24. On the Simulation of Progressive Deformation in Nuclear Piping

    Author : Andreas Gustafsson; Jan Granlund; Luleå tekniska universitet; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Steel Structures; Stålbyggnad;

    Abstract : In this thesis the performance of different constitutive models in ratchet simulation is investigated. Ratcheting is accumulated plastic strains which may occur when a structure is subjected to a constant load in combination with cyclic loading. READ MORE

  5. 25. Bracing of steel bridges during construction; theory, full-scale tests and simulations

    Author : Hassan Mehri; Avdelningen för Konstruktionsteknik; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Bracing; steel-concrete composite; steel; bridge; test; construction; laboratory; experiment; experimental; theory;

    Abstract : A number of steel bridges have suffered lateral-torsional failure during their construction due to their lacking adequate lateral and/or rotational stiffness. In most cases, slight bracing can be of great benefit to the main girders involved through their controlling out-of-plane deformations and enabling the resistance that is needed to be achieved.
