  1. 1. Energy Policy Instruments Perspectives on their Choice, Combination and Evaluation

    University dissertation from Lund Institute of Technology

    Author : Kerstin Åstrand; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2006]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy systems; policy instrument choice; socio-technical systems; policy instrument combination; Energiforskning; Energy research; Samhällsvetenskaper; Social sciences; Sweden.; evaluation; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; wind energy policy; green certificate trading scheme; market creation; wind power; Public policy instruments; wind turbine development; kontroll av utsläpp; renewable energy; energy policy;

    Abstract : Abstract The thesis aims at providing a better understanding of public policy instruments used in policy-making within the energy sector, particularly regarding their role in the change towards an increased use of renewable energy sources for generation of electricity. The research was guided by an underlying assumption that a markedly higher proportion of the energy generated from renewable sources can be considerably enhanced by use of policy instruments that support the development and the market creation of new, renewable energy technologies. 2. 2. Dynamics of Energy Systems - Methods of analysing technology change

    University dissertation from Environmental and Energy Systems Studies, Lund university

    Author : Lena Neij; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [1999]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; Energy research; evaluation; market transformation; PV modules; wind power; experience curves; air-distribution; lighting; vintage models; sustainable energy; renewable energy; energy efficiency; Energy; energy system; Energiforskning; Environmental technology; pollution control; Miljöteknik; kontroll av utsläpp;

    Abstract : Technology change will have a central role in achieving a sustainable energy system. This calls for methods of analysing the dynamics of energy systems in view of technology change and policy instruments for effecting and accelerating technology change. In this thesis, such methods have been developed, applied, and assessed. READ MORE

  3. 3. Global energy transitions Renewable energy technology and non-renewable resources

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Geotryckeriet

    Author : Simon Davidsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2015]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; energy transitions; natural resources; renewable energy; sustainable development; growth curves; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : The global energy system is dominated by the use of fossil fuels. This system suffers from several problems, such as different environmental issues, while the long-term energy security is sometimes questioned. READ MORE

  4. 4. Wind-wave interaction effects on offshore wind energy

    University dissertation from Department of Energy Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Ali Al Sam; Lunds universitet.; Lund University.; [2016-11]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind-wave; swell; atmospheric boundary layer; marine atmospheric boundary layer; atmospheric turbulence; Large-eddy simulation; actuator line; wind sea; offshore technology; wind energy; wind turbine; aerodynamic;

    Abstract : This thesis is devoted to the investigation of the impacts of fast moving ocean surface waves on the aerodynamics of offshore wind turbines. The impacts of non-locally generated waves (swell) on the Marine Atmospheric BoundaryLayer (MABL) and thereby on offshore wind turbine aerodynamics are studied numerically by using Large Eddy Simulations and the Actuator Line Method. 5. 5. Natural resources and sustainable energy Growth rates and resource flows for low-carbon systems

    University dissertation from Uppsala : Acta Universitatis Upsaliensis

    Author : Simon Davidsson; Uppsala universitet.; [2016]
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; low-carbon technology; renewable energy; energy transitions; critical materials; energy metals; material flows; net energy; EROI; life cycle assessment; LCA; growth curves; curve fitting; resource depletion; Natural Resources and Sustainable Development; Naturresurser och hållbar utveckling;

    Abstract : Large-scale deployment of low-carbon energy technologies is important for counteracting anthropogenic climate change and achieving universal energy access. This thesis explores potential growth rates of technologies necessary to reach a more sustainable global energy system, the material and energy flows required to commission these technologies, and potential future availability of the required resources.
