    Author : Reza Zandi Shafagh; Klas Tommy Haraldsson; Wouter van der Wijngaart; Niels Bent Larsen; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; Nanostructuring; thiol-ene; OSTE; electron beam lithography EBL ; reaction injection molding RIM ; nanoimprint lithography NIL ; BioNEMS; QCM; digital bioassay; protein patterning; Lab-on-a-chip; polymer;

    Abstract : Improving the health and well-being of humankind does not only constitutepart of our moral codes, but is also enlisted as the number three goal ofthe 2030 agenda for sustainable development set by the UN. Fulfilling suchobjective in the regions of resource-poor settings or for age groups with morevulnerability to infectious agents demands immediate actions. READ MORE

  2. 2. Thiol-ene and Thiol-ene-epoxy Based Polymers for Biomedical Microdevices

    Author : Alexander Vastesson; Tommy Haraldsson; Wouter van der Wijngaart; Christopher N. Bowman; KTH; []
    Keywords : ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; biomedical microdevices; lab-on-a-chip; off-stoichiometry thiol-ene; OSTE; thiol-ene-epoxy; hybrid polymer networks; reaction injection molding; photostructuring; surface modification; bonding; liquid encapsulation; biocompatibility; Electrical Engineering; Elektro- och systemteknik;

    Abstract : Within healthcare there is a market pull for biomedical devices that can rapidly perform laboratory processes, such as diagnostic testing, in a hand-held format. For this reason, biomedical devices must become smaller, more sophisticated, and easier to use for a reasonable cost. READ MORE

  3. 3. Lipase chemoselectivity - kinetics and applications

    Author : Cecilia Hedfors; Karl Hult; Mats Martinelle; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Candida antarctica lipase B; Rhizomucor miehei lipase; active site titration; kinetics; chemoselectivity; thiol; alcohol; thiol-functionalized polyesters; Biochemistry; Biokemi;

    Abstract :   A chemoselective catalyst is preferred in a chemical reaction where protecting groups otherwise are needed. The two lipases Candida antarctica lipase B and Rhizomucor miehei lipase showed large chemoselectivity ratios, defined as (kcat/KM)OH / (kcat/KM)SH, in a transacylation reaction with ethyl octanoate as acyl donor and hexanol or hexanethiol as acyl acceptor (paper I). Abstract : In the last decades, the fabrication of ordered nano- and microporous structures has attracted increasing interest due to their specific properties and multiple possible applications in electronics, as templates or in the biological field. The development of such materials has been favored by the introduction of the simple breath-figure templating method in the 1990’s. READ MORE

  5. 5. Structure of Self-Assembled Monolayers on Gold Studied by NEXAFS and Photoelectron Spectroscopy

    Author : Somsakul Watcharinyanon; Lars Johansson; Hans Siegbahn; Karlstads universitet; []

    Abstract : Self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) provide well-defined and ordered films of molecules spontaneously chemisorbed on a surface. By designing molecules with desired functionalities, such molecular film can be interesting for a range of applications from molecular electronics to catalysis. READ MORE
