6. Probing Interactions between Bio-Fibre Components
READ MORE

7. Reactions of Model and Anticancer Active Platinum(IV/II) Complexes - A Kinetic and Mechanistic Study
Abstract : In this thesis reductions of model and anticancer active Pt(IV) complexes with thiols and ascorbic acid and substitution reactions of cisplatin and model Pt(II) complexes with S-donor nucleophiles (rescue agents) have been investigated using stopped-flow and UV/VIS spectrophotometry. Glutathione (GSH) reduction of the anticancer active Pt(IV) compounds t- and c-[PtCl4(cha)(NH3)] (cha = cyclohexylamine), t-[PtCl4(thiazole)(NH3)] and c-[PtCl4(NH3)2] at 25 oC was observed to be very fast. 8. Synthetic Paper for Point-of-Care Diagnostics : Capillary control, surface modifications, and their applications
Abstract : Capillary-based platforms for diagnostics are popular for the point-of-care diagnostics market because of their low cost, easy fabrication, and easy operation. Lateral flow tests are an excellent example of capillary-based platforms for point-of-care diagnostics. READ MORE

9. Structure-Reactivity Correlations for Reactions of Palladium(II) and Platinum(IV) Complexes
Abstract : The kinetics and mechanism for substitution reactions on tetraaquapalladium(II) by an extended series of thioethers, a great number of carboxylic acids, and olefins have been studied by use of UV-VIS, stopped-flow, and high-pressure stopped-flow spectrophotometry and NMR spectroscopy. Second-order rate constants k and activation parameters (activation enthalpies, entropies, and volumes) for formation of monodentate 1:1 complexes have been determined. READ MORE

10. DNA checkpoint override and redox signaling in Schizosaccharomyces pombe
Abstract : This thesis covers intracellular stress signaling through genotoxic stress, overriding of checkpoint control, as well as cellular redox status in hypoxic and oxidative stress Papers I and II: Caffeine has been shown to override cell cycle checkpoints in humans as well as in the fission yeast Schizosaccharomyces pombe. Understanding of the mechanism may aid in the development of compounds with similar overriding mechanisms for sensitization in cancer therapy. READ MORE
