  1. 1. Studies of the fibre direction and local bending stiffness of Norway spruce timber : for application on machine strength grading

    Author : Min Hu; Marie Johansson; Mats Ekevad; Linnéuniversitetet; []
    Keywords : LANTBRUKSVETENSKAPER; AGRICULTURAL SCIENCES; digital image correlation; diving angle; fibre angle; grain angle; indicating property; laser scanning; modulus of elasticity; tracheid effect; Forestry and Wood Technology; Skog och träteknik;

    Abstract : Machine strength grading is a production process in the sawmill industry used to grade sawn timber boards into different strength classes with specific characteristic values of the bending strength, modulus of elasticity (MOE) and density. These properties are called grade determining properties. READ MORE

  2. 2. Diagnosing and monitoring open-angle glaucoma. Pupillometry and other novel techniques

    Author : Lada Kalaboukhova; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : open-angle glaucoma; relative afferent pupillary defect; pupillometer; visual field; Frequency Doubling Technology Perimetry; High-pass Resolution Perimetry; Heidelberg Retina Tomography;

    Abstract : Aim:To investigate the ability of a custom-built pupillometer and other novel diagnostic instruments to detect and monitor optic nerve damage in glaucoma.Methods:In the first two studies we investigated pupillary reactions to light in patients with glaucoma and in healthy persons using a custom-built pupillometer. 3. 3. A few aspects of aircraft noise

    Author : Crispin Dickson; Shafiquzzaman Khan; Mendel Kleiner; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; paired comparison; sorting based paired comparison; sorting algorithms; mergesort; quicksort; aircraft sound synthesis; aircraft noise; sound quality; tonal effects; angle positions; flight conditions; methods of equalization; cognition; Acoustics; Akustik;

    Abstract : A few aspects of aircraft noise were evaluated. These were (i) methods of subjective evaluations, (ii) effects of equalization and (iii) the effects of cognitive aspects.In the first paper, sorting algorithms were used instead of conventional paired comparison method in order to reduce the number of pairs in the evaluation of subjective judgments. 4. 4. Grid-Connected Voltage Source Converter - Control Principles and Wind Energy Applications

    Author : Jan Svensson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; wind turbine; voltage source converter; voltage angle control; frequency response; vector current control; grid-connected; forced-commutated; measurements;

    Abstract : The thesis focuses on a forced-commutated voltage source converter (VSC) connected to a grid in a wind energy application. The work consists of four parts. The first part addresses the type of electrical system which should be used in a wind turbine. READ MORE

  5. 5. Electronic structure of clean and adsorbate-covered InAs surfaces

    Author : Karolina Szamota-Leandersson; Ulf Otto Karlsson; Vladimir Chab; KTH; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; angle-resolved photoemission; electronic structure; accumulation layer; adatoms; reconstruction; Surfaces and interfaces; Ytor och mellanytor;

    Abstract : This thesis is the result of investigations regarding the processes in InAs III-V semiconductor surfaces induced by additional charge incorporated by adsorbates. The aim of the project is to study the development of the accumulation layer on the metal/InAs(111)A/B surfaces and its electronic structure. READ MORE
