  1. 6. C–H activation through late transition metal cyclometallation. Addressing selectivity and reactivity problems

    Author : Mikhail Kondrashov; Centrum för analys och syntes; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; C—H activation; cyclometallation; pincer ligands; anion exchange; bimetallic complexes; oxidative functionalisation;

    Abstract : The ligand-directed C—H activation relies on a coordinating donor atom being in proximity to the C—H bond activated. Cyclometallation of 2-(1-naphthyl)-pyridine – a substrate containing both γ- and δ-positions in proximity to the directing nitrogen atom – was studied. READ MORE

  2. 7. Coordinated MultiPoint Transmission with Incomplete Information

    Author : Tilak Rajesh Lakshmana; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; scheduling; precoding; coordinated multipoint; joint transmission; backhauling; particle swarm optimization; decentralized; stochastic optimization; convex optimization; efficient backhauling; centralized;

    Abstract : The demand for higher data rates and efficient use of various resources has been an unquenchable thirst across different generations of cellular systems, and it continues to be so. Aggressive reuse of frequency resources in cellular systems gives rise to intercell interference which severely affects the data rate of users at the cell-edge. READ MORE

  3. 8. Anomalies in humoral immunity in the NOD mouse : contribution to the progression of type 1 diabetes

    Author : Radha Thyagarajan; Kristina Lejon; Per-Arne Oldenborg; Susanna Cardell; Umeå universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Type 1 Diabetes; NOD mouse; B cells; IgE; TACI; BAFF; immunologi; Immunology;

    Abstract : The non-obese diabetic (NOD) mouse is widely used model Type 1 diabetes (T1D), a chronic inflammatory disease characterized by destruction of the insulin producing β cells in the islets of Langerhans by immune cells. The classical symptoms include increased glucose levels in urine and blood, frequent urination and enhanced thirst. READ MORE

  4. 9. Health-related quality of life and patient education in a group of uremic patients

    Author : Birgitta Klang; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : chronic renal failure; coping; emotional slatus; functional status; health; health-related quality of life; nursing; patient education; predialysis patients; sense of coherence; support; uremic symptoms.;

    Abstract : The main purpose of this thesis was firstly, to describe a group of uremic patients' health-related quality of life (HRQOL) prior to and after having started dialysis and secondly, their HRQOL after participation in a patient education program given before dialysis treatment was started. Several questionnaires were used to collect data concerning disease specific symptoms, perceived health, functional and emotional status, sense of coherence, use of coping strategies, disease specific knowledge and perceived amount of information. 5. 10. Living with chronic kidney disease : perceptions of illness and health-related quality of life

    Author : Agneta Pagels; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Chronic kidney disease;

    Abstract : This thesis comprises two studies concerning illness perceptions and perceived health-related quality of life (HRQoL) in patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD). The overall aim was to evaluate psychometric properties of a Swedish translation of the Revised Illness Perception Questionnaire (IPQ-R) (study I), and furthermore to explore illness perceptions (study I) and HRQoL (study II) in adult patients in different stages of renal insufficiency (CKD stages 2-5).
