  1. 1. Three-Dimensional Load-Deformation Relationships of Arbitrarily Loaded Coiled Springs

    Author : Lars Lindkvist; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; extended stiffness model; helical spring; non-linear deformation; stiffness matrix; coiled spring; arbitrary load; large deformation; three-dimensional;

    Abstract : This paper reports the development of a computer based tool that can be used to predict the three-dimensional load-deformation relationships of arbitrarily loaded coiled springs. The non-linear deformation of the spring is calculated by dividing the spring into small elements for which the load-deformation relationships can be considered to be linear. READ MORE

  2. 2. Computational model of abdominal aortic aneurysm inception and evolution

    Author : Andrii Grytsan; T. Christian Gasser; Nicholas Hill; KTH; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; aneurysm; three dimensional; elastin degradation; growth; remodeling; fluid-solid-growth model; Teknisk mekanik; Engineering Mechanics;

    Abstract : Incidence of abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) is increasing in the aging society of the western world. Development of AAA is mostly asymptomatic and is characterized by a bulge in the abdominal aorta. However, AAA may suddenly rupture, which results in an internal bleeding associated with a high mortality rate. READ MORE

  3. 3. Modelling and Simulation of Train-Track Interaction including Wear Prediction

    Author : Clas Andersson; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; full-scale measurements; rail corrugation; substructuring; wheel-rail contact; multibody dynamics; dynamic train-track interaction; three-dimensional motion;

    Abstract : Many problems in railway traffic arise as a result of the dynamic interaction between rolling trains and tracks. The problems include both instantaneous effects due to induced vibrations of track and vehicle, and more long-term processes of a detrimental nature. READ MORE

  4. 4. On Multistage Analysis of Transonic Compressors: From Axisymmetric Throughflow Time-Marching to Unsteady Three-Dimensional Methods

    Author : Stephane Baralon; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; shock; time-marching; deterministic; average-passage; multistage; fan; axisymmetric; 3D; unsteady; transonic; viscous; body force; stress; singularity; perturbation; throughflow; mixing-plane; modelling; finite-volume;

    Abstract : A throughflow time-marching finite-volume solver, capable of computing viscous transonic multistage compressor flows with embedded shocks, is presented. The behavior of the blade model, based on the blade mean surface flow tangency condition, was investigated for transonic flows. READ MORE

  5. 5. Fully Nonlinear Unsteady Three-Dimensional Boundary Element Method for Ship Motions in Waves

    Author : Martin Kjellberg; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; TEKNIK OCH TEKNOLOGIER; ENGINEERING AND TECHNOLOGY; BEM; potential flow; MEL; ship motions; free surface; wave resistance; fully nonlinear; time-dependent;

    Abstract : The prediction of the behavior of ships in a seaway has been an important topic in ship design since the beginning of modern naval architecture. In recent years, computer simulations using numerical methods based on mathematical models of the ship hydrodynamics problem has become a valuable tool for researchers and engineers working in this field.
