  1. 1. Three - dimensional ultrasound studies of the cervix in pregnancy

    University dissertation from Medicinsk Informationsteknik, Malmö

    Author : Linas Rovas; [2005]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; andrology; gynaecology; Obstetrics; Prostaglandin .; Labor induction .; Spontaneous delivery .; Pregnancy .; Cervix uteri .; Blood flow indices .; Doppler ultrasound .; Three-dimensional imaging .; sexuality; reproduction; Obstetrik; sexualitet; reproduktion; gynekologi; andrologi;

    Abstract : The aim of this thesis was to evaluate cervical physiological changes by three-dimensional (3D) ultrasound during pregnancy and to investigate the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. The thesis is based on five studies: reproducibility of cervical measurements by 3D power Doppler ultrasound (study I), reference data representative normal findings of the cervix assessed by 3D ultrasound during pregnancy (studies II, III) and the ability of 3D power Doppler to predict time to spontaneous and induced delivery in prolonged pregnancy. 2. 2. Three-dimensional ultrasound studies of normal and abnormal ovaries

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Sciences, Lund University

    Author : Ligita Jokubkiene; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; ovary; ovarian follicle; ovarian neoplasms; ultrasonography; three-dimensional imaging; Doppler ultrasound imaging; vascular morphology;

    Abstract : The aims of this work were: 1) to estimate the number of follicles, ovarian volume and power Doppler vascular indices and their changes with age using three-dimensional (3D) transvaginal grey-scale and power Doppler ultrasound in asymptomatic women of fertile age either with natural menstrual cycles or using combined oral contraceptives, and 2) to determine whether tumour vascularity, assessed by 3D power Doppler ultrasound, can help discriminate between benign and malignant ovarian tumours. A group of 303 gynaecologically asymptomatic women, aged 20–39 years with normal menstrual cycles (NMC) and another group of 213 women aged 20–39 years using combined oral contraceptives (COC) were examined using two-dimensional (2D) and 3D transvaginal ultrasound once between cycle day 4 and 8. 3. 3. Three-dimensional assessment of cardiac function; When right is wrong

    University dissertation from Department of Clinical Physiology, Lund University

    Author : Ellen Ostenfeld; [2014]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Key words Three-dimensional echocardiography; cardiac magnetic resonance imaging; cardiac function; volumes; atria; ventricles; pulmonary hypertension; right heart catheterization; right ventricular pressure load.;

    Abstract : Assessment of the right side of the heart is important in patients with heart disease; especially in patient with elevated pressure in the lung circulation. Decreased right ventricular function and elevated pressure in the right atrium are of poor prognostic value. READ MORE

  4. 4. Ultrasound prediction of large fetuses. Epidemiological and clinical investigations

    University dissertation from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, Lund University

    Author : Gun Lindell; [2012]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Two-dimensional ultrasound; three-dimensional ultrasound; fetus; intrauterine growth; maternal characteristic; large-for-gestational age; antenatal calculation; Bayesian theorem; fetal weight; estimation; post-term fetus; fetal macrosomia;

    Abstract : The proportions of newborns with a birth weight (BW) >4,000 g and of macrosomic newborns (BW >4,500 g) have increased during the last two decades, parallel with an increasing maternal pre-pregnancy body mass index (BMI) and age at the time for pregnancy. Delivery of a large fetus, especially >4,500 g might cause perinatal complications for both the mother and her child. READ MORE

  5. 5. Image Analysis and Enhancement with Applications in Medicine
