  1. 1. Three-nucleon forces in nuclear physics simulations

    Author : Tor Djärv; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; configuration interaction; many-body physics; nuclear physics; three-nucleon forces; normal ordering;

    Abstract : The aim of this licentiate thesis is to evaluate the normal-ordered two-body (NO2B)-approximation as a computationally promising way to incorporate realistic three-nucleon forces (3NFs) in nuclear many-body simulations using the no-core-shell-model. The existence and importance of 3NFs is predicted in chiral effective field theories of the strong-nuclear force. READ MORE

  2. 2. Approximating the Three-Nucleon Continuum

    Author : Sean Miller; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Three-nucleon forces (3NFs) are necessary to accurately describe the properties of atomic nuclei. These forces arise naturally together with two-nucleon forces (2NFs) when constructing nuclear interactions using chiral effective field theories (χEFTs) of quantum chromodynamics. READ MORE

  3. 3. Two-body Photodisintegration of ³He

    Author : Martin Karlsson; Kärnfysik; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; differential cross sections; three-nucleon forces; MAX-lab; tagged photons; Nuclear physics; Kärnfysik; Fysicumarkivet A:000;

    Abstract : In a series of experiments using the tagged photon facility at MAX-lab located in Lund, Sweden, the two-body photodisintegration of ³He has been investigated in the photon energy range 14--32 MeV. Differential cross sections of the reaction ³He(g,d) have been measured by detecting deuterons and protons in silicon surface barrier detectors. READ MORE

  4. 4. JupiterNCSM: A Pantheon of Nuclear Physics —an implementation of three-nucleon forces in the no-core shell model—

    Author : Tor Djärv; Chalmers tekniska högskola; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : It is well established that three-nucleon forces (3NFs) are necessary for achieving realistic and accurate descriptions of atomic nuclei. In particular, such forces arisenaturally when using chiral effective field theories (χEFT). READ MORE

  5. 5. Neutron-Deuteron Scattering and Three-Body Interactions

    Author : Philippe Mermod; Jan Blomgren; Steven Vigdor; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : Nuclear physics; three-body force; neutron; deuteron; elastic scattering; angular distribution; Faddeev equations; Kärnfysik;

    Abstract : High-precision differential cross section data of the neutron-deuteron elastic scattering reaction at 95 MeV are presented. The neutron-proton scattering differential cross section was also measured and used as a reference to allow an accurate absolute normalization of the neutron-deuteron data. READ MORE
