  1. 1. Collision Threshold Pressure A novel measure of voice function Effects of vocal warm-up, vocal loading and resonance tube phonation in water

    University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

    Author : Laura Enflo; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2013]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES;

    Abstract : The phonation threshold pressure (PTP), i.e., the smallest amount of subglottal pressure needed to initiate and sustain vocal fold oscillation, is frequently difficult to measure due to the difficulty for some subjects to produce extremely soft phonation. In addition, PTP values are often quite scattered. READ MORE

  2. 2. Improved computerized perimetric threshold strategies

    University dissertation from Department of Ophthalmology, Lund University

    Author : Boel Bengtsson; Lund University.; Lunds universitet.; [1999]
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; probability maps; normal limits; test time; clinical testing; test strategies. glaucoma; test algorithms; false positive answers; Visual field testing; computerized perimetry; Ophtalmology; Oftalmologi;

    Abstract : Perimetric threshold examination is the most important method for diagnosing and monitoring patients with glaucoma. Such examination, however, is time-consuming and often difficult for the elderly patients in whom glaucoma is prevalent. Shorter test strategies have been proposed, but unfortunately also with lower test quality. READ MORE

  3. 3. Building the City from the Inside Architecture and Urban Transformation in Los Angeles, Porto, and Las Vegas

    University dissertation from Stockholm : KTH Royal Institute of Technology

    Author : Hannes Frykholm; Daniel Koch; Catharina Gabrielsson; Roemer van Toorn; Albena Yaneva; [2020]
    Keywords : HUMANIORA; HUMANITIES; Interior urbanism; architecture; urban transformation; threshold; lobby; temporality; labor; atmosphere; Urban Design; Stadsbyggnad;

    Abstract : Positioned in the research field of “interior urbanism” (Rice, 2016), this thesis considers entrance situations that occur between buildings and cities in order to develop new ways of investigating the relationship between architecture and urban transformation. From the main research question—How does architecture mediate urban transformation?—the thesis focuses on experience-driven narratives about the city (Pine & Gilmore, 2011). READ MORE

  4. 4. The Role of Odor and Sensory Irritation in Human Chemical Sensitivity

    University dissertation from Stockholm : Department of Psychology, Stockholm University

    Author : Li Zheng; Stockholms universitet.; [2010]
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Odor and irritation detection; recognition; threshold; choice theory; intensity; chemical sensitivity; threshold; and sensitivity index.; SOCIAL SCIENCES Social sciences Psychology; SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP Socialvetenskap Psykologi; Psychology; psykologi;

    Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to apply complimentary psychophysical theories and methods to investigate human perception of odor and sensory irritation of chemical compounds present in indoor air. Three psychophysical theories: Signal Detection Theory (SDT), Threshold Theory and Luce’s Choice Theory (CT) were applied to measure detection and recognition of odor and sensory irritation of two odorous irritants (pyridine and formaldehyde) by using the method of constant stimuli. 5. 5. The mechanics in two nanosized systems Size effect and threshold field

    University dissertation from Sundsvall : Mittuniversitetet

    Author : Martin Olsen; Mittuniversitetet.; [2012]
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates the mechanics in two nanosized system. Paper I investigates a size effect in a cantilever nanowire affecting its resonance frequency. Paper II reveals a threshold field for the formation of a mound by the diffusion of surface atoms on a substrate under a STM-tip. READ MORE
