  1. 1. Collision Threshold Pressure A novel measure of voice function Effects of vocal warm-up, vocal loading and resonance tube phonation in water

University dissertation from Linköping : Linköping University Electronic Press

Author : Laura Enflo; Linköpings universitet.; Linköpings universitet.; [2013]

Abstract : The phonation threshold pressure (PTP), i.e., the smallest amount of subglottal pressure needed to initiate and sustain vocal fold oscillation, is frequently difficult to measure due to the difficulty for some subjects to produce extremely soft phonation. In addition, PTP values are often quite scattered. READ MORE

Abstract : The main objective of this thesis is to apply complimentary psychophysical theories and methods to investigate human perception of odor and sensory irritation of chemical compounds present in indoor air. Three psychophysical theories: Signal Detection Theory (SDT), Threshold Theory and Luce’s Choice Theory (CT) were applied to measure detection and recognition of odor and sensory irritation of two odorous irritants (pyridine and formaldehyde) by using the method of constant stimuli. 4. 4. The mechanics in two nanosized systems Size effect and threshold field

University dissertation from Sundsvall : Mittuniversitetet

Author : Martin Olsen; Mittuniversitetet.; [2012]

Abstract : This thesis investigates the mechanics in two nanosized system. Paper I investigates a size effect in a cantilever nanowire affecting its resonance frequency. Paper II reveals a threshold field for the formation of a mound by the diffusion of surface atoms on a substrate under a STM-tip. READ MORE

  5. 5. For every word has its own shadow: Sunsets, Notes From Underground, Waves

Abstract : Liminality permeates this doctoral project's questions: how can an experience of the liminal exist as an artwork? What things and experiences can orient us towards affectivity and states of becoming? Lisa Tan relates such concerns to Clarice Lispector whose writing renders becoming(s) visible. Coupled with Maurice Blanchot and his literary discourse on dispossession and the outside (analogous to becoming), Tan's inquiry is critically engaged inside a moving image practice. READ MORE
