  1. 1. Folate, Hormones and Infertility : Different factors affecting IVF pregnancy outcome

    Author : Tiina Murto; Anneli Stavreus-Evers; Agneta Skoog Svanberg; Sven-Eric Olsson; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; Folate; folic acid supplement; homocysteine; hormones; infertility; IVF; lifestyle factor; MTHFR; predictive value; socioeconomic factor; women; Obstetrik och gynekologi; Obstetrics and Gynaecology;

    Abstract : Various hormones have been studied as regards prediction of pregnancy outcome after infertility treatment, but no ideal candidate has been found. Folate and genetic variations in folate metabolism have also been associated with infertility, but it remains unclear how these factors affect IVF pregnancy outcome. READ MORE

  2. 2. Calcium Homeostasis After Thyroid Surgery

    Author : Pia Lindblom; Lund Kirurgi; []
    Keywords : MEDICIN OCH HÄLSOVETENSKAP; MEDICAL AND HEALTH SCIENCES; PTH-peripheral effects; hPTH- 1-34 infusion; EDTA infusion; Set-point; Vitamin D3; PTH; Calcium; Thyroid surgery; Postoperative hypocalcemia; Bone density.; Surgery; orthopaedics; traumatology; Kirurgi; ortopedi; traumatologi; Reduced thyroid hormones;

    Abstract : Calcium homeostasis after thyroid surgery was studied during the immediate postoperative period and after one year. One day after hemithyroidectomy ionised calcium decreased whereas basal PTH did not change. EDTA stimulated maximal and total PTH secretion and set-point decreased on postoperative day 1 and normalised on day 7. READ MORE

  3. 3. Mass spectrometry based analysis of endogenous sterols and hormones

    Author : Neil de Kock; Jonas Bergquist; Kumari Ubhayasekera; William J. Griffiths; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; mass spectrometry; supercritical fluid chromatography; UPSFC–MS MS; bioanalysis; steroids; oxysterols; thyroid hormones; Kemi med inriktning mot analytisk kemi; Chemistry with specialization in Analytical Chemistry;

    Abstract : Bioanalytical applications using supercritical fluid chromatography (SFC) as analytical technique are of increasing interest. In essence, bioanalysis involves measurement of bioactive or endogenous compounds in biological matrices. READ MORE

  4. 4. Regulation of E-cadherin mediated adhesion in thyroid epithelial cells

    Author : Fredrik Larsson; Göteborgs universitet; []
    Keywords : thyroid; adherens junction; E-cadherin; thyrotropin; cAMP; PKA; Epac; IQGAP;

    Abstract : Cell adhesion is one of multicellular organisms most fundamental features. Cells connect to each other by transmembrane proteins arranged in junction complexes. READ MORE

  5. 5. Thyroid hormones and their receptors in transcriptional regulation

    Author : Monika Andersson; Karolinska Institutet; Karolinska Institutet; []
    Keywords : Thyroid hormone receptor; regulatory response element; palindrome; directrepeat; everted repeat; DNA hinding domain; P75gag-v-erbA; differentiation; nuclearlocalization; repression.;

    Abstract : The thyroid hormone receptors (TRs) are encoded by two genes, alpha and ß, and belong to a family of hormone activated nuclear receptors. This family includes the receptors for retinoids and vitamin D3 as well as the receptors for steroid hormones. READ MORE
