1. Synthesis of Thin Piezoelectric AlN Films in View of Sensors and Telecom Applications
Abstract : The requirements of the consumer market on high frequency devices have been more and more demanding over the last decades. Thus, a continuing enhancement of the devices’ performance is required in order to meet these demands. In a macro view, changing the design of the device can result in an improvement of its performance. READ MORE

2. Magnetic Thin Films with Graded and Tilted Anisotropy for Spintronic Devices
Abstract : In this thesis magnetic thin films with graded or tilted anisotropy are intensively studied for potential applications in spintronic devices. A continuum of stable remanent resistance states is realized in Co/Pd multilayers based on a perpendicularly magnetized pseudo spin valve (PSV). READ MORE

3. Nanoscale structure forming processes : Metal thin films grown far-from-equilibrium
Abstract : Thin film growth from the vapor phase has for a long time intrigued researchers endeavouring to unravel and understand atomistic surface processes that govern film formation. Their motivation has not been purely scientific, but also driven by numerous applications where this understanding is paramount to knowledge-based design of novel film materials with tailored properties. 4. Epitaxy of oxide and nitride thin films grown by magnetron sputtering
Abstract : The need for electronic devices with new functionalities has caused research to move in a way to design and utilize materials with high-performance thermoelectricity, widely used in batteries, sensors, and electronic devices. Two-dimensional materials (2D) with unique structures and remarkable properties have been identified to fabricate oxide heteroepitaxy. READ MORE

5. Titled and graded anisotropy FePt and FePtCu thin films for the application of hard disk drive and spin torque oscillators
Abstract : The FePt and FePtCu thin films with graded anisotropy and titled anisotropy are utilized to solve both the magnetic recording ‘‘trilemma’’ of the hard disk drives (HDDs) and the large field operation problem of spin torque oscillators (STOs). We have successfully realized the FePtCu thin films with graded anisotropy. READ MORE
