  1. 1. Fibre-Optic AWG Networks Supporting Real-Time Communication in High-Performance Embedded Systems

    Author : Kristina Kunert; Magnus Jonsson; Högskolan i Halmstad; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; real-time communication; medium access control MAC protocol; traffic dependency analysis; network architecture; Arrayed Waveguide Grating AWG ; optical communication; real-time analysis; optical network; Computer engineering;

    Abstract : High-performance embedded systems communicating heterogeneous traffic with high bandwidth and strict timing requirements are in need of more efficient communication solutions. This thesis proposes two multi-wavelength passive optical networks able to meet these demands. READ MORE

  2. 2. Functional modelling of the human timing mechanism

    Author : Guy Madison; Uppsala universitet; []
    Keywords : SAMHÄLLSVETENSKAP; SOCIAL SCIENCES; Psychology; Brain mechanisms; Brownian motion; drift; dynamical systems; fractal; human; Gaussian noise; Hurst exponent; time; time series analysis; timing; Psykologi; Psychology; Psykologi; fysiologi; Physiology;

    Abstract : Behaviour occurs in time, and precise timing in the range of seconds and fractions of seconds is for most living organisms necessary for successful interaction with the environment. Our ability to time discrete actions and to predict events on the basis of prior events indicates the existence of an internal timing mechanism. READ MORE

  3. 3. Inductive Dependency Parsing of Natural Language Text

    Author : Joakim Nivre; Walter Daelemans; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; natural language parsing; dependency parsing; memory-based learning; treebank parsing; Systems engineering; Systemteknik; Computer and Information Sciences Computer Science; Data- och informationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : This thesis investigates new methods for syntactic parsing of unrestricted natural language text under requirements of robustness and disambiguation. A parsing system is required to assign to every sentence in a text at least one analysis (robustness) and at most one analysis (disambiguation). READ MORE

  4. 4. MaltParser -- An Architecture for Inductive Labeled Dependency Parsing

    Author : Johan Hall; Joakim Nivre; Welf Löwe; Martin Volk; Växjö universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; Dependency Parsing; Support Vector Machines; Machine Learning; Language technology; Språkteknologi; Computer and Information Sciences Computer Science; Data- och informationsvetenskap;

    Abstract : This licentiate thesis presents a software architecture for inductive labeled dependency parsing of unrestricted natural language text, which achieves a strict modularization of parsing algorithm, feature model and learning method such that these parameters can be varied independently. The architecture is based on the theoretical framework of inductive dependency parsing by Nivre \citeyear{nivre06c} and has been realized in MaltParser, a system that supports several parsing algorithms and learning methods, for which complex feature models can be defined in a special description language. 5. 5. Contributions to Semantic Dependency Parsing : Search, Learning, and Application

    Author : Robin Kurtz; Marco Kuhlmann; Lilja Øvrelid; Linköpings universitet; []
    Keywords : NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES; NATURVETENSKAP; NATURAL SCIENCES;

    Abstract : Semantic dependency parsing is the task of mapping natural language sentences into representations of their meaning in the form of directed graphs on words. These bilexical graphs are designed to capture the sentence-internal predicate-argument relationships – they tell us “who did what to whom” in the given sentence. READ MORE
